Colossians 1:16–17 KJV 1900
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
God has made ma n dependent upon Him
We are as able to live happily and peaceably apart from God as we are able to fly by flapping our arms
We were not designed to fly
We were not created to be a self-contained, self-sufficient creature.
But we were designed to be dependent upon God
This was done by design!
Sure we can design and build a rocket to take us to the moon
We can build massive bridges to span large bodies of water
We can design and build automobiles to transport us and our stuff faster
But all of these things are designed and made of things supplied by God
We can only take what God has supplied and use it
Think about this…the car we drive, the house we live in…they all need repair
Even in this we see that creation demands dependancy
Would would acknowledge the fact that we need God to supply the raw materials to build a house or a car
But often when it comes to ourselves we want to rebel against the idea that we are dependent on God
Psalm 100:3 KJV 1900
Know ye that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
The principle to remember here is that if you needed someone to create you, you need someone to sustain you.
Humility
Ephesians 2:8–9 KJV 1900
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
1 Peter 5:5 KJV 1900
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
2 Kings 5:1-15
