2 Timothy 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Focus: 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Supporting Verse 1: Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Teach all nations = make disciples of all nations

Anyone can get a person to pray a prayer, 1,2,3, repeat after me!

ALL NATIONS, including the NAVAJO NATION -

ALL SOULS MATTER TO JESUS!

Supporting Verse 2: Jude 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

The faith is the body of revealed truth -

Many young people are who grew up in Church are not embracing the faith, they are being deceived and corrupted into homosexuality, perversion, liberalism, atheism, etc.

God did call us to sit in a church pew! God called us to become disciples ourselves and make disciples of all nations!

Judges 2:10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

The Need for Faithful Disciples

1. There is a famine of Doctrine

People in Naschitti got food boxes. Thankful!

People in Naschitti are not dying from a famine of food or water!

Amos 8:11-12 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

2. There is a famine of Disciples

We must become faithful Disciples ourselves.

You can only become a faithful disciple if you practice the Bible at home and work, and everywhere you go.

We don’t need SUNDAY Christians

We don’t need Nominal Christians

We don’t need Religious Law Keeping, Doing your Duty Chrsitians

We need Spirit-Filled, Bible-Believing, God-Fearing, Sin-Hating Christians.

Where is the member of Naschitti Baptist Church who will say, God help me to be a disciple of the Lord until the rapture, or until the Lord calls me home!

I can encourage you, and I can preach to you, but you have to make the decision to become a disciple.

Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

I will be your Disciple

The Necessity of Developing Faithful Disciples

1. Children -

Ephesians 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Children will become disciples by Mentoring and Modeling of the parents in their home

Mentoring - teaching them what you know.

Don’t let your children make spiritual decisions for themselves

Tell Billy, we are both going to memorize Psalm 1 together. Lets start with verses 1-3, then tomorrow, we will do verses 4-6.

Mentoring is time consuming - YOU MUST SPEND TIME WITH YOUR CHILDREN - talk to them, teach them, PRAY with them, LOVE THEM.

Many children are growing up to become bad adults, while we do nothing about it. Then we say, well they grew up in CHURCH?

2. Converts

People that get saved - no matter their physical age, are babies in the Lord.

Churches are filled with Babies

Hebrews 5:13-14 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Babies need to be nurtured

Converts need to be taught the doctrines of God

Ephesians 4:14-15 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The Necessity of Developing Faithful Disciples

We must commit the faith to the faithful, we must teach the next generation...
