1 Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”
2 The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?” “You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!”
3 Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, “Why stay here until we die?
4 If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’—the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.”
5 At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, not a man was there,
6 for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!”
7 So they got up and fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys. They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives.
8 The men who had leprosy reached the edge of the camp and entered one of the tents. They ate and drank, and carried away silver, gold and clothes, and went off and hid them. They returned and entered another tent and took some things from it and hid them also.
9 Then they said to each other, “We’re not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”
1. Why not trust God at all times, He is Elohim
1. Why not trust God at all times, He is Elohim
During the famine the people were buying bird dung to eat
A lady made a deal with another lady to kill their young son and eat them and the next day they would eat the other boy
Times were dire
On top of all the famines and attacks, there were four who were also lepers
Sounds like 2020
2. Why not trust God with your health, He is Rapha
2. Why not trust God with your health, He is Rapha
The lepers had a death sentence
The lepers knew they had a death sentence
The lepers were not allowed with the rest of the population (even with a mask on)
Sounds like 2020 (quarantine)
The lepers took a risk with God
If you have a death sentence, why not live your best life
If everyone is going to die, why not live your best life for Jesus
3. Why not trust God to protect you, He is Nissi
3. Why not trust God to protect you, He is Nissi
The lepers took the risk and trusted God
The lepers decided to go to the enemy’s camp
The lepers figured, “we are dead either way”
Sounds like 2020, why not trust God to protect you?
The enemy will be confused by our God
The lepers went to the enemy’s camp without a mask
Why not trust God to protect you? He is Jehovah-Nissi
4. Why not trust God to provide, He is Jireh
4. Why not trust God to provide, He is Jireh
People were paying crazy prices for food items that they would not normally buy
I’m sure if there was bottled water and toilet paper is was expensive (no laws against price gouging)
They were buying about a half pint of bird dung for around $1.50
Sounds like 2020
However, the man of God declared that things would get back to normal
A man questioned him, by doubting God’s Power
God will cause a great victory to happen so that things can go back to normal
God doesn’t need a lot of time to change things around
Why not trust God to provide for you? He is Jehovah-Jireh
5. Why not trust God to supply your needs, He is El Shaddai
5. Why not trust God to supply your needs, He is El Shaddai
The man of God announced that there would be supplies the next day
Our God spoke into darkness and said, “Let there be light” and there was light
Our God can speak your victory into existence, and you will have victory
Sounds like 2020
Our God can speak the end of COVID and it will end
If His children would only trust Him, God is able
He is the Great One
He is the Creator of all things
He set the limits for the waves
He stows hail, lightening, and rain
He holds the stars in their place
He alone gives life
He alone numbered our days on this earth
Why not trust God to supply all of your needs? He is El Shaddai. The Great God. King of Kings. Lord of Lords. Creator of Heaven and Earth.
