Who’s Church?

I hope you weren’t offended by the comical skit we just saw called the Me Church. But there are more things on that little show that are evident in all the churches than you think. 1. The lady who is tired and comes when she wants. (How often are families not coming because they don’t feel like it?) 2. The family who wants a church that their baby can cry and not have to do anything. (At a minister’s meeting one evening a family came with their 3 boys, strung toys all over the floor, and they made noise all that evening during the service. And they were pastors!) 3. The fellow that wants tickets to the Superbowl. (Did you know that when we came to the library to have services we knocked another church out of using it to sit and watch that very game!?)
4. The kid who wants a pony. (I thought that was silly till I noticed how many just want something from the church)

Today we seem to want more and more a church tailored to our wants and wishes. People used to come into the church with humility and as though they were walking into the presence of God now they don’t care to walk in with an Ale-8 and a snack.

There are a lot of churches that take time when coming into an area to ask people what they wasn’t to hear and what they don’t, what songs they like what they don’t etc. instead of taking the time to ask God what does He want!

What is a God church?

1.    It is subject to Christ

Ephesians 5:24KJV

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

2.     Loved by Christ

Ephesians 5:25KJV

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

3.    It is sanctified and a holy church

Ephesians 5:26-26KJV

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,  27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

4.    It is a House of Worship

John 4:23-24KJV

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

5.    A house of prayer.

Isaiah 56:7KJV

7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

6.    A house of love a loving church

Matthew 22:36-40KJV

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

This isn’t a Me church it is God’s church! Our sanctuary is a holy place given to and sanctified unto God! Let’s keep it that way!
