Change The Game
The phrase, “change the game” is often used in what we understand to be Hip-Hop culture. Game refers to the actions or the mode of operation of an individual. When one is told to change the game it means to change methods used, the usual directions or path that one had chosen, especially if it is an unsuccessful.
Often many of us find ourselves in the position in life where we really don’t understand why we are where we are in life. We want a better way of dealing with our issues, we need a better way of dealing with our problems, and we find it hard to see the escapes from our miseries.
Today, I want to suggest that we can be in a better position, we can feel better about who we are and where we are in life if we would only Change the Game. It all boils down to the choices we make in our lives. How, we choose to perceive our situation and what we choose to take away from our daily experiences.
James encourages the church to take an inward look and make a productive response to its methods by changing the usual motions into different actions.
James says, leave the status quo, leave the normal method and take on a more life changing direction. His point was that the church could not be effective by being immobile and stand offish. He wanted the church to realize there must be a sense of honor and respect within the church.
You must remember James wanted to redirect the thinking, faith and actions of the church. There was bickering among them, they were competing and comparing. They were allowing their personal problems and failures to affect their faith. They were fighting and lying on one another. James said this has got to change, its time to Change the Game. It’s time to be different. It amazes me how we continue doing the same thing over and over and get the same result and wonder why nothing gets better. If you want things to change not only in the church but in your life, you gotta change the content and the input.
James gives us a few methods we can take and use to make a better life with God’s help for ourselves.
I. KEEP IT REAL
A.) Contrary to belief this doesn’t mean curse people out and put people down. It actually means the opposite.
B.) Be honest and truthful with one another. Be straight up.
II. PRAY FOR EACH OTHER
A.) This would be a change for many because many prey on folk.
B.) Consider the pains and hurts of others. We are not the only ones who suffer.
