The Sickness Of Lazarus

Mary and Martha’s brother is dying
send word to Jesus on the other side of the Jordan River
A simple Prayer “Lazarus is sick”
When Jesus heard the prayer He said that it would not result in death
and it was for the Glory of God
sometimes our sicknesses, unscheduled flat tires in the poring rain...
are for Gods good, and ours
there is a purpose for allowing this to happen
and this purpose had nothing to do with a lack of faith
sin in his life
result of a bad diet
often God brings us to to the end of ourselves, before His relief comes

Jesus Loved The Family

John 11:5 AV
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
This family is apart of the flock
The Sheep that belong to Jesus
ones chosen by the Father before the creation
to be given to the son as a bride
The ones that Jesus came to earth to redeem
A special intimate love reserved for His own
Jesus does love all, but there is a special love given to His bride
Every thing Jesus does for His bride is out of love
The Father loves us so much that He is transforming the bride into the image of His Son
Romans 8:29 NKJV
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
and nothing can separate us from the love of Jesus
Romans 8:38–39 AV
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 11:5 AV
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
why was it important for us to know this verse?
Because

Jesus Waited

John 11:5–6 NKJV
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.
but they were hurting, needed comfort, because Lazarus was dead
our normal reaction is to get help as fast as possible
jump into action- call 911, give them rides, make food, be there for them, give advice
But because He loved them, Jesus waited
Both Mary, and Martha said “if you have been here”...
They dint understand
they could not see the big picture
they could not see the end result
they did not know the Fathers will
they did not know the joy they would experience
But we are the same way. I prayed for this and you did not answer
you did not do what I asked for
Because He loved them, Jesus waited
not because of indifference
not because He was busy
Jesus is in perfect submission to the Father
Jesus is God, Lord, almighty, Eternal, uncreated
but in submission
The Father wanted Him to wait

Because of Love

1 Corinthians 13:1–8 CJB
I may speak in the tongues of men, even angels; but if I lack love, I have become merely blaring brass or a cymbal clanging. I may have the gift of prophecy, I may fathom all mysteries, know all things, have all faith—enough to move mountains; but if I lack love, I am nothing. I may give away everything that I own, I may even hand over my body to be burned; but if I lack love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind, not jealous, not boastful, not proud, rude or selfish, not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not gloat over other people’s sins but takes its delight in the truth. Love always bears up, always trusts, always hopes, always endures. Love never ends; but prophecies will pass, tongues will cease, knowledge will pass.
The father so loved the world that He gave
love of God toward us is His motivation
love kept Jesus away 2 more days
our circumstances in life are controlled by love
because Jesus loves us we are going though this thing
we don’t know the reason or outcome of this trial
but God’s hands are all over it
we can blame satan for it
but as we learned in Job, satan can do nothing without God Almighty’s permission
God is in control of all things, even the lines at Hanaford when we get there, and also the lines at the cash register
also God is in control of the sickness we are experiencing
The Just shall live by faith
if you are a believer, then our lives should be lived accordingly
some times we get this crazy notion that because i’m a child of God that everything will go smooth.
because Jesus loves me then He will make things go well
we need to learn
to interpret life’s circumstances by the love of Jesus
ask your self, as i’m standing in line, what is going on in the background that I’m not aware of? what is Jesus trying to teach me in this situation
The delays of Jesus are the delays of love
The Gospel of John, Volume 3: Those Who Received Him (John 9–12): An Expositional Commentary Love and Circumstances

you will begin to interpret circumstances in the light of love; and, as God gives light, you will begin to see how he is using them to perfect your will, strengthen your faith, and bring glory to his own wonderful name.
