Life is like a road.  We travel it daily and must consider whatever route or direction we take.  As we sojourn in life, just as in regular highways and roads we must prepare for the bumps and detours we may encounter.

I have found that, when traveling the meandering paths that life has in store for us, it is best to let the Lord do the driving especially when the road gets rough.

Whether it is family, business, personal, or community affairs, experience has taught us that when the highways of life become coarse and abrasive we should allow God to do all of the steering.

It doesn't require a lot to hold on when the going is easy, but when times get difficult, when the going get rough, when the going gets tough a steadier hand is required.

As believers our ultimate determination should be to let God guide us at all times.  And He will see us through regardless of how rough things become.

In this text we find the prophet Isaiah rendering inspirational words of hope to Judah.  He told Judah that Jerusalem would not be taken by the Assyrians; however He ventured far into the future and predicted the enslavement of the people and their eventual release under King Cyrus of Persia.

Isaiah tells the people that their social and economical trials will be uneasy.  He assures them though that God has no intentions of abandoning them.

In fact in these difficult times God plans to strengthen them, help them and uphold them.

God promises to confound their enemies and defeat them, and though their way will be rocky and difficult they are assured safe passage, because God promises to take them by the hand and lead them every step of the way.

The difficulties of our present times require strength.  No matter how strong we think we are, it gets hard to hold things in line when there are bumps in the road.  When these troubles come we need the strength of God to keep us on the path.

Alone we can’t do it but when God puts His hand on the wheel He brings things in control.

We should expect the power of God to strengthen us to face our adversities and know that He will deliver us from our enemies and their traps they may place before us.

(Daniel –plot of lies by his co-workers)(Noah – Ridicule of his neighbors)(Joseph – the jealousy of his brothers)… God delivered each of them.  They each trusted that God would both handle and bring them through it all…We ought trust God enough to know He is much bigger and much stronger than our enemies…

David mused about it when he said, “He preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.”  When others tried to make his life difficult, tried to demolish him, tried to destroy him, God strengthened him to survive and outlast their plans.

David summed it up like this, “The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid.

Since perplexing circumstances are inevitable in life, it would be wise for all of us to allow God to lead us through to smoother paths.

Many of us speed through the bumps in life and vibrate and shake until we almost fall apart.  When God guides us He takes around and through each obstacle at the right speed. It may seem slower getting through but we make it.

In other words we need to turn things over to God.  When we do this He literally takes us by the hand changes the changeless, makes the impossible possible.

Great things happen when we put it in Gods hands
