Ezekiel 37:1–14 NIV
The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’ ” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’ ” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army. Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’ ”

Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit Empowers, Moves, Transforms
Last couple of weeks: Person, Presence, today His power
He is the fuel for our soul. Are you trying to be a good Christian?
Quit trying - that’s part of the Holy Spirit’s job - you cannot do it on your own power Zechariah 4:6 - Not by might or strength, nor by power, but by my Spirit

Empowers

Empowers and Embolden’s
Car FOB or a physical key - have to be connected
Toaster - won’t work without plugging it in - the electricity needs to be there!
Combustion engine won’t run without fuel - Cheri’s dad taught her to always have a full tank - don’t run close to empty
electric car without charged batteries - Range anxiety
Don’t be anxious as He empowers you
Jesus says in John 14:26 - As our Helper & Advocate - the Holy Spirit will teach and remind you of God’s Word

Moves

Moves us down the road of spiritual growth
Moves us out of darkness (sin) and into the light (God’s holiness and his will)
Not so we can have more of the Holy Spirit but so He can have more of us
Consider Peter’s life journey -
Simon > Peter
impulsive/selfish
brother introduced him to Jesus
later rebuked <> Jesus
cowardly denied him
Pentecost
arrested
NT Letters
Peter moved from questioning > hothead > coward > boldness for Christ

Transforms

Offering ourselves as a living sacrifice back in Romans 12:1
Transforms our minds (Romans 12:2) NLT - transforms you into a new person by changing the way you think
The Holy Spirit isn’t mentioned specifically hear but He ties in with Romans 8 - Life in the Spirit
Chapter 9,10,11 - speaks about Israel’s place in God’s plan and “THEREFORE” at 12
Romans 12:2 - Do not conform to the pattern of this world
Transform to God’s will by His Word, His Presence, surrendering to him
We don’t have to think like the latest social post, the latest gossip, the media reports, the political party platform
God can and will transform us - if we let him
Not just us - but the world - not our might - but the Spirit’s power
Jesus spells that out in John 16 - Holy Spirit convinces the unbeliever

Surrender

Are you ready to surrender all of you? - we’re too prideful in our self-sufficiency
God’s will empower you, transform you
God will move you into a closer relationship with Him and empower you to be His witness to those around you (not necessarily in words) but definitely in you actions.
Surrender yourself to God today. Let Him move you from where you are to where you need to be.
