2 Timothy 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Introduction

“Victory in Jesus” is not the the title of a song, “Victory in Jesus” is not just our annual theme for 2020. Victory in Jesus can be the reality of your life. We can have VICTORY IN JESUS.
We learned in the first verse (2 Tim 2:1) about a Personal Strength
2 Timothy 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
To be victorious we can’t be weak! We have to be STRONG! Victorious Christians have a personal strength from their walk with God.
We learned in verse 2, that churches, and the next generation of believers, need to be strong also. That will come only as we commit the teaching of the Bible to them.

I. The Message

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

1. It must Repeated and a Reminder

Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
1 John 2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

2. It Must be Received and Reviewed

Acts 17:10-11 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

II. The Method

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Commit

put forth, set before
Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
Mark 6:41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
Like a Buffet - The foot is set before you.
Meme on Facebook: FAT LIVES MATTER - bring back the BUFFETS!
As a preacher my job is to set the Scripture before you, to put it forth where you can reach it
To put forth, and to set before is not force feed!
Sad that many have been force fed Scripture and Standards that they were not ready to receive.
At Naschitti Baptist Church we use the KJV without Apology, we are KJV-Only, but we are not KJV UGLY!

Able to teach

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
FACT: Not all men are apt to teach
Some are not mature enough
Some are not gifted in teaching
Illustration: Keith Stewart came with his family on Sunday, after church I asked him if he was a preacher, he said, no…I didn’t put him down because of it. I thanked him for coming!
Romans 12:6-7 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
Ephesians 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

III. The Men

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Question: What constitutes a faithful man?
1 Corinthians 4:1-2 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
Answer: Faithful here means trustworthy and dependable
Example:
Who could you trust your children with for 1 week?
Who could you trust with $500.00 of your money?
Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
