v7 - what is important about broken teeth? Cultural significance?
How confused must David have been? David went out of his way to protect Absalom, yet Absalom betrayed him. Absalom didn’t try to follow God’s way.
v5 - In what sense did David lie down and sleep? Was it exhaustion or confidence? Sleep is time of vulnerability - maybe waking up was vindication that God had sustained him?
Is the repeated phrase “O Lord: a cry of desperation?
In what sense “Arise, O LORD!” said? Does David think God is napping? Why the word arise?

Application Grid: what do we learn about
TRINITY
God is depicted as walking among us, fighting our battles close up - God is not distant, but immanent
MAN
Mankind is spoken of as a herd animal
Man is prone to depression and doubt
People are prepared to believe a lie and misinformation
CHURCH
Always be an encouragement to our brothers and sisters in this chaotic time
The church should be a place where God’s blessing dwells
CHRISTIANS
The Christian will have blessing from God
NON-CHRISTIANS
The non-Christian will challenge the idea that God can really help
They do not have any eternal hope of salvation
They can see God’s delivering His people and blessing them
MY PRAYER LIFE
You must actually turn to the LORD, and cry out to Him; expect Him to deliver you
