When the Lord's Supper was taken as a communal meal, in the Corinthian church, it became a time of selfishness and greed. But the Lord's Supper expresses the unselfish and generous nature of God in sending His Son to die for the sin of the world. In this sense, the way the church treats its own should be a reflection of what Christ has done for the church as demonstrated in the communion time of remembrance.
