Be Selfless !
Be Selfless !
A christian we said before that is one that is a Friend of God
This mean God is in fellowship with men through the HS
Christian is one who has believed that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God
Christian is the one who know that all things belong to him/her
A christian is one who is ready to lay down his/her life for another
A christian is one who love his/her neighbour as self
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
We should overcome self meaning the flesh and its passions.
Passions: strong and barely controllable emotion or desires for something, can also mean the suffering and death of Jesus.
Lust: strong sexual desires and passions for someone OR to fix the desires upon someone or something
Passions lead to SIN and want of own
Passions lead to SIN and want of own
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.
5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
FLESH is full of Lust (s)
Overcome its influence
How? By crucifying the flesh, that is denying it what it likes
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Our deliverance from the flesh comes in this wise:
Knowledge that we are not on the flesh but the spirit. Romans 8:5, 9, 13
Jesus said flesh (of men) profits nothing, but the spirit (of men). John 6:63
Therefore, educate and feed your spirit regularly with word and meditation, listening to sound doctrines and teachings, keeping good friends or company
In the flesh we serve sinful passions.
Romans 7:5, 25
Therefore escape by:
fasting,
prayerfulness,
speaking in tongues
renew mind
