I Beseech You

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3,1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

I.       In verse 1 we find that the people at the Thessalonians church were going through a lot of problems

A.    Some false teacher were telling them that the of the Lord was at hand

B.    Well this was false, the rapture has not even taken place

1.     This is what we find here in verse 1

C.    Paul is trying to tell them that what they have heard was false.

D.    Paul is telling them about the Rapture of the Church

II.     Than in verse 2 Paul warn them more about the false teaching

A.    God is telling us not to be tossed as a ship does in an agitated sea

1.     Ephesians 4:14,14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

2.     So many preacher preaching false things and leading people down the wrong path

3.     By  a person professing to have the Spirit of prophecy

a)     1 John 4:1-2,1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

4.     If you see a letter that is alleged to be of Paul.

a)     Don’t let these things so easly confuse you

B.    We read the Phrase “The Day Of Christ”

1.     The oldest manuscripts read “Lord”

2.     “The day of Christ” is right now as the Bible teaches

C.    The Day of the Lord is the start of the tribulation

1.     It is the time when judgment come on the earth as we read in Revelations

2.     2 Timothy 2:18, Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

a)     This is what was happening at Thessalonica

III.    Paul further warn the people of Thessalonica in verse 3

A.    Paul give us two things which must take place

1.     The falling away first

a)     2 Thessalonians 2:5, Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

b)     Matthew 24:10-12,10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

c)     Many people will be falling away from the truth and the things of God

2.     The man of sin be revealed

a)     The Antichrist, the son of perdition

B.    I want you to think about what I am about to say

1.     Before the rapture happens the beginning of the falling away must take place

a)     False preachers, preaching false things

b)     Leading people down the wrong path

c)     We see this happening today which makes you think how long before the start of the tribulation?

2.     The antichrist must born into the world and be growing up

a)     He might be alive today growing up

Conclusion:

God is warning us what is about to happen possible in our lifetime.

We need to prepare for it by knowing as much Bible as possible so the false teacher doesn’t deceive us
