The Seeker-(v. 1)—David went seeking Mephibosheth. Luke 19:10—Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost.
The Sought—(v. 4)—Mephibosheth was in hiding for fear of his life. (Some are fearful to go to God)
The Surrender
The Surrender
The Calling Out—(v.6)—David called and Mephibosheth went. If Mephibosheth would not have went, there would have been no restoration. (We must come)
The Compliance—(v.6)—laid prostrate showing complete surrender. Restoration requires complete surrender.
Mephibosheth called himself a servant and was ready to serve. No question of where, what, when, how…only what do you want!
The Surprise
The Surprise
The Restoration—(v.7-8)—Not based on what Mephibosheth could do or had done but who he was.
He felt undeserved—like a dead dog. We are the same. We do not deserve a restored relationship with God for we are dead dogs.
2. The Reward —(v13)—Eating at the kings table! Eating a meal together carried great wait at that time and to some degree it does today. You don’t break bread with just anyone. It shows that there is a relationship.
