Challenge for the New Year

Joshua 1:8, This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Moses could not go into the promise land and now Joshua becomes the leader of a million people.

He is to go into a unknown land were the people out number them as well as being well aquit with the weapons of war.

Joshua has a big job ahead of him. How on earth is he going do it?

He will need God's help. Let see how he does it.

God gives Joshua some instructions to follow, let see what God say;

I.       The first thing God tells him is that the Bible shall not depart out of thy mouth

A.    The more one reads the more one remembers, the more one can use the Bible to get victory in times of problems.

1.     Joshua was going to need that

2.     It is like a domino effect.

3.     It can be just like the Bunny rabbit on TV, that just keeps going and going.

B.    I would like to encourage you to set a goal to read the Bible through in a year.

1.     It was important for Joshua and it is equally important for us.

C.    Psalm 119:11, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

1.     As each domino falls, we get victory in our lives as we grow closer to God.

II.     The next thing God tellls him is to Meditate therein on the Word day and night

A.    2 Timothy 2:15, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

B.    Attending church and Bible study more

C.    Keep up with the lessons.

D.    Take time to think about the verses you just read or studied

1.     Think about them during the day at work or play

E.     Joshua lead a army of one million, we can do the same with our family if we do the same thing Joshua did

III.    Next God tells Joshua that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein

A.    We can not do it of our selfs, it has to be of God.

B.    Ephesians 6:17, And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

1.     These are the things that change our lives

C.    Luke 8:15, But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience

IV.   And if all the above is done, you will be prosperous, and have good success.

A.    Genesis 39:3, And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

B.    Psalm 1:3, And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

C.    I don’t believe that everyone who puts God first will become wealthy.

1.     Put God will take care of you

2.     God promise that He will

3.     Are you tired of having a hard live, than give it over to God, He can do a much better job
