Leader: God of our fathers and Creator of us all, we thank you for the men who united with our mothers to give life to us all.
People: God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we thank you
Leader: Heavenly Father, We will ever look to you for guidance and direction. We celebrate Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father, who assumed unexpected responsibilities with grace and dedication. We thank and pray to you for the men in our lives who have answered the calling to be a father, as we recognize that fathering a child is not the same as being a father to a child.

People: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, continue to bless their ministry and may they be a light unto the world around them.
We mourn the many fathers lost, and those who are ripped away from their families by death. Guide us to reconcile our grief with your hope, to carry on with the blessings they gave and the knowledge that you God, will guide us, love and comfort us, we can call you as Jesus did, Abba, or Daddy in English.

Abba, continue to hold us in our tears and strengthen us in our steps.
God, we thank you for and pray for fathers who, by their own account, have not always been very good fathers. Lord, grant us mercy to forgive and the grace to love these men for their intentions and their heart if not for the results of their efforts.

Heavenly Dad, work in our hearts to forgive as you forgive and love as you love.
Almighty God, we thank you for and pray for single mothers today. Tasked with the most difficult job imaginable, let them never feel alone in our midst. Let us help bear the burdens and fill the void that an absent father leaves in a family.

Father who adopts us into your Chosen People, Give us your hands and feet to show your love to families without an earthly father
God, we thank you for and pray for men who, despite separation, or divorce, or family struggles have remained a presence and an influence in their children’s lives.

O Great Physician, teach us how to mend the family ties that have been severed.
Lord, we thank you for and pray for those men who, lacking a good model of fatherhood in their own lives, work to become good fathers to their own children.

Loving Father guide their paths and strengthen us to strengthen them on their journey.
Lord, we thank you for and pray for the men who have striven to balance the demands of work, marriage, children and everything else in this life and have done so with an earnest heart.

Provider God, help them know peace and grant them wisdom, that they might model Your love to their children.
God who is with us in the valley of the Shadow of Death, we thank you for fathers who came to us in times of danger. Who slept in our homes ready to wake and protect so that we could sleep peacefully. Who took the pain of giving us discipline so that we would know better lives. Who risked their lives so that our life would be blessed. Who showed us to love all others especially when others were different. For those who showed us how to honor you when others showed evil. For our Fathers who shared your Salvation with us, even though it might cost them there life.

“Faith of our fathers, living still in spite of dungeon, fire and sword. Faith of our fathers, holy faith. We will be true to you till death!”
Eternal Father, Strengthen men’s minds, bodies, and spirits so that they may faithfully serve you. Help today’s fathers, O God, to become wiser managers of their households.
