Christian Can Have A Wonderful Life

2 Peter 1:3,3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

I.       According to God's Power

A.    It is all about God doing and not us

1.     I had the opportunity to witness to a salesman at Saturn the other day

2.     We talked about Salvation and how people get saved and than turn around and try to live a Christ like life by them selves.

3.     It is all about God and his power.

B.    Lets take a look at some verses

1.     Psalm 84:11, For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

2.     Romans 8:32, He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

3.     2 Corinthians 12:9, And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

4.     1 Timothy 4:8, For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

II.     All this Pertains to Life and Godliness

A.    Back in verse 3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life”

B.    God has made every arrangement that we will need to live a Godly life and He will take care of us in the process

III.    Through the knowledge of Him him that hath called us to glory and virtue

A.    We find the knowledge of God here in the Bible

1.     Everything we will ever need is found here.

2.     Matthew 5:18, For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

B.    Glory and virtue

1.     Glory

a)     By what Christ has done in His honor and glory, we can have this life

2.     Virtue

a)     Virtue means something more than we commonly think of it. We use it today when we refer to a woman being virtuous or morally chaste. Actually, virtue as Peter uses it has to do with excellence and courage.

b)     It means that you have the courage to excel in life

c)     By Christ virtue we can live the type of life God wants us to live

d)     2 Peter 1:4, Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Conclusion:

2 Peter 1:5, And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

1 Peter 2:9, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
