We are distinguished from all of creation in this one way. We are created in God’s own image.
We are distinguished from all of creation in this one way. We are created in God’s own image.
We are representations of God, but we are not manifestations of God!
We are representations of God, but we are not manifestations of God!
We are simply meant to represent God among His creation as He has given us the privilege to rule and to reign over that creation in a way that both reflects and honors Him.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Being created in the image of God does not mean that we are like God in every way.
Jesus Christ is the only true manifestation of the image of God.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Man and woman are both distinct yet equal image bearers of God.

Our ability to communicate with God is one of the unique abilities given to us as His image bearers.

We are given the task of ruling over the rest of creation and stewarding what God has entrusted to us.
As the Creator, God alone has the authority to determine how His creation should function in relationship with one another.
As the Creator, God alone has the authority to determine how His creation should function in relationship with one another.
God’s original design has always been one man and one woman bonded together as one flesh for the entirety of their lives on earth. Anything that does not align with His original design is going to cause pain and conflict and ultimately separation from God.
6 But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ 7 ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. 9 What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
v.18
We see the value that God places on the relationship between a man and a woman is so great. The only relationship that we can have that is more valuable than this is with the Creator himself. It is no wonder why God views the distortion of that relationship as such a great offense. This relationship is a gift from God meant to help sustain us through life in this fallen world. Even before the fall God was making provision for us through His own sovereign knowledge of all things.
