Dry Bones!!!

37:1-14 EZ

The hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me out by his Spirit and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me all around them. There were a great many of them on the surface of the valley, and they were very dry. 3 Then he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

I replied, “Lord GOD, only you know.”

4 He said to me, “Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5 This is what the Lord GOD says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live. 6 I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”

7 So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. 9 He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man. Say to it: This is what the Lord GOD says: Breath, come from the four winds and breathe into these slain so that they may live!” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me; the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a vast army.

11 Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look how they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope has perished; we are cut off.’ 12 Therefore, prophesy and say to them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them, my people, and lead you into the land of Israel. 13 You will know that I am the LORD, my people, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14 I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I am the LORD. I have spoken, and I will do it. This is the declaration of the LORD.’ ”

Change is uncomfortable at times. There are good changes like getting extra money…being old enough to drive and then there are changes that need to be made that are uncomfortable.
Sometimes we can even get comfortable in destructive behavior and we can say to ourselves I need to change this or change that....not look at that…not talk like that and so on but we still don’t do it. You ever wonder why that is? Why is it even when we know we need to change we just don’t do it? Comfort....Even ugly stuff is comfortable when its ours. Even terrible stuff is comfortable when its ours.
My desk at home is normally a disaster area. Papers everywhere, sometimes old dishes, a stray red bull can here or there. And I used to say yeah it’s a mess but it’s my mess. I’ve gotten better at that but there are alot of situations we find ourselves in where we just go along and resist change.
So how does life get spoken to “Dry Bones”
How many in here agree that there isn’t anything God can’t do. He wills it, it gets done....
Now in Ezekiel these dry bones can reference a broken spirit. Downcast, hurt, afraid, abandoned, ignored, mocked, laughed at, all these things and more can cause a broken spirit and give you dry bones. But God can do anything right.....These bones started to rattle....They came together just at the word of God. God breathed right into them and said LIVE. In fact more than that He said in verse 14 I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live,
There are ways that we can aid like Ezekiel in bringing dry bones to life. Remember where change ultimately begins at. It begins between you and God. Then when you are changed you can begin to speak life into situations of brokenness, hurt, anguish, despair. Instead of speaking more death and destruction let’s start speaking life. Speak to the dry bones around you and declare to them that GOD SAID LIVE. GOD SAID LIVE.
There are some of you who think well I’m stuck because of this or that thing that I’m doing or I’ve done or I’ve just grown complacent. God does not want you to wallow in your past and He certainly doesn’t want you sitting on the sidelines. That is why He sent His son. You see God can do anything....Yes anything.
God’s created everything you see....He breathed it into existence. His people were caught up in slavery in Egypt....He rescued them
What He did was He parted the sea…and He made a way for them....then He delivered their enemies to them....
He provides water from a rock and manna from Heaven....and He brought down the walls of Jericho He froze the sun allowing victory
He’s toppled giants with tiny stones He’s brought fire from Heaven
He’s shut the mouths of lions and preserved life in the belly of a whale
He’s fed thousands with a few loaves, He gives the weak strength and He heals the sick
He’s made the blind see, the deaf hear, the mute speak, the lame walk
And He’s overcome evil, And He made a way through death for you and me
By the death and the resurrection of His son Jesus Christ
That we will live with Him forever
We will dwell in the House of the Lord forever and ever and ever
What are we afraid of
His resume is Flawless
He controls everything
And He loves you
IF your spirit is broken today what are you afraid of. Change can be hard but there isn’t anything God can’t do. He can make a way for you. If you will just open up your heart to Him you’ll start to hear the sound of your dry bones rattling. And He gives His spirit to all of those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. But here’s the neat thing He doesn’t just breathe it on you.....He puts that same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead....That same Holy Spirit inside you....To guide you, to comfort you, and to change you. GOD SAID LIVE. Are you ready to Live today. ARE YOU READY TO HEAR DRY BONES COME ALIVE TODAY>
