1 Timothy 5:13 (HCSB): At the same time, they also learn to be idle, going from house to house; they are not only idle, but are also gossips and busybodies, saying things they shouldn’t say.
1 Timothy 3:11 (NAS): Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.
Proverbs 16:27–28 (HCSB): A worthless man digs up evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire. 28 A contrary man spreads conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.
Have you ever had that one person that Meddles in your life
Always up to no good
You cringe every time they come around.
You hate being around but do not have the courage to simply tell them to go away
Our maybe you work with him or her.
Maybe they are a brother or sister in your church.
Maybe they are blood family. a sister or brother or your mom or dad, Father or mother in law
Proverbs 26:17–28 (HCSB): A person who is passing by and meddles in a quarrel that’s not his is like one who grabs a dog by the ears. 18 Like a madman who throws flaming darts and deadly arrows, 19 so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I was only joking!”
20 Without wood, fire goes out; without a gossip, conflict dies down. 21 As charcoal for embers and wood for fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife. 22 A gossip’s words are like choice food that goes down to one’s innermost being. 23 Smooth lips with an evil heart are like glaze on an earthen vessel. 24 A hateful person disguises himself with his speech and harbors deceit within. 25 When he speaks graciously, don’t believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart. 26 Though his hatred is concealed by deception, his evil will be revealed in the assembly. 27 The one who digs a pit will fall into it, and whoever rolls a stone—it will come back on him. 28 A lying tongue hates those it crushes, and a flattering mouth causes ruin.
Older Women and Men as Mentors
Titus 2:3–5 (NASB95) 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
Titus 2:6–8 (NASB95) 6 Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; 7 in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, 8 sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
