Hearts burn with in us

Luke 24:32, And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

I.       Two disciples did not know that they were talking to Christ.

A.    In verses 13,14 two disciples are walking down a road talking about what had taken place (Christ and his life here)

B.    Than in verses 15-28 Christ comes to them

1.     They don’t know He is Christ

2.     He asks what they were talking about

3.     They are amazed that He does not know what has been happening (remember they do not know he is Christ)

4.     Christ starts to tell them what the scriptures say about Jesus and what must become of Him

C.    What you see here is two disciples walking down the

The road and thinking why did this happen to Christ

If only they did not crucify Him.

1.     Christ tells them from scripture that all these things had to happen to fulfill the Old Test.

2.     The disciples invite Christ to stay with them and during that time they are eating Christ lets them know who He is and than disappears

II.     Then the disciples start to talk among them self’s how their hearts burn with in.

A.    When they heard the Word of God, they knew it

1.     Hebrews 4:12, For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2.     The Word is powerful, it changes lives, it convicts sin, it brings people to Christ.

B.    A gentleman approached the fruit stand of an Italian woman, whom he found very intently engaged reading a book. “What are you reading there, my good woman, that seems to interest you so much?” he inquired. “The Word of God,” said the woman. “The Word of God! Who told you that?” “God told me Himself,” answered the woman. “God told you? How did He do that? Have you ever talked with God? How did He tell you that was His Word?” Not accustomed to discuss questions of theology, the woman was a little confused. Recovering herself, she said: “Sir, can you prove to me that there is a sun up there in heaven?” “Prove it,” said the man, “Why do you ask me to prove it? It proves itself. It warms me and I see its light; what better proof can any one want?” The woman smiled and said: “Just so; you are right. And that is just the way God tells this Book is His Word. I read it, and it warms me and gives me light. I see Him in it, and what it says is light and warmth which, none but God can give; and so He tells me it is His Word. What more proof do I need?”

Does the Word of God burn in your hearts?

When you come here every Sunday does His word burn in you hearts? When you hear it on the radio does it burn in you hearts?

When you read it at home does it burn in your heart?

III.    The Scriptures will change lives.

A.    Jeremiah 15:16, Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

1.     When we learn from the Bible, we will found something we did not know before

2.     We than eat or take it in and learn how to use it to change our lives. It burns in our hearts

B.    Jeremiah 23:29, Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

1.     Does not the Word change lives?

a)     Is it not a fire which purifies us?

b)     Is it not a hammer which breakes us up into pieces to make us in the image of Christ?

c)     Does the Word burn in your hearts?

C.    The Word of God does the changing not the preacher.

1.     It does not matter what kind of preacher is delivering the message as long as it is the true Word of God.

2.     David Ring is a evanglist and he has teroblale pasey and he preaches all over the country.

D.    Does the Word of God come alive as you listen to it, as you read it, as you learn of it?

Conclusion: As we exsamion this verse today, ask this question. Does the word of God burn in your hearts?

If not ask why and get that part of your life in order by taking it to God

Make a dession today. Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life.

If it does burn in your hearst, praise God and keep on keeping on

Let me leave you with this verse:

1 Thessalonians 2:13, For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
