Romans 8:5 NKJV
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Colossians 3:2 NKJV
2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Philippians 4:8 NKJV
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Philippians 3:18–19 NKJV
18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things.
Romans 12:2 NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
1 Peter 1:13–14 NKJV
13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;
Why the emphasis on our mind?
Someone give me a scenario when you don’t need to obey these passages.
Why does the Bible put so much emphasis on your thoughts?
2 Corinthians 10:3–6 NKJV
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
What if you don’t take those thoughts captive? What if you allow thoughts that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God to live?
James 4:7 NKJV
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Resist the devil and he’ll flee from you. That presents the idea of not resisting him. It’s not enough to simply ignore him. You *must* resist him.
So, what if we don’t resist?
He doesn’t appear as a dragon.
The enemy’s strategy is to give you *arguments* to let him in!
If you let him in once, he’s in once. If he gives an argument to let him in, you’ll let him in for years.
The demon’s motto: Convince a man to let you in, you’re in for a day. Give a man an argument to let you in, you’re in for a lifetime.
ANY ARGUMENT to not resist, to let sin into your head, is the enemy trying to get in! ANY ARGUMENT WHATSOEVER to dismiss passage after passage after passage about your mind, is the enemy doing his job.
I’ve been dealing with arguments to let the enemy in my entire ministry: it’s not me doing it! I’ll look like a weirdo to the world if I don’t! It helps me relax! I just listen to the beat! Now it’s: I’m hurting and angry.
Do you understand? He cannot come in, unless we let him in.
That’s what ALL MEDIA, especially social media, is for. If Satan could plant thoughts in our minds without a way to get in, he would simply control what we think about all the time. This would violate the Biblical idea of free will.
There’s only one response when the enemy is trying to come in. YOU CAN’T COME IN!!!
No matter the reason! No matter the argument! No matter the feeling! No matter how much you like it!
Everything is flesh EXCEPT: The Holy Spirit!
John 3:5 NKJV
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
That means, the only possible ways you can sow something that’s NOT FLESH is: God’s Word, the gifts of the Spirit, and the fruits of the Spirit. THAT’S IT!
We’re all sponges.
You are going to absorb what you don’t resist.
EVERYTHING that contradicts God’s Word is worldly, and fleshly. It MUST be resisted. It MUST be resisted!
WE’RE IN THE DAYS OF REVELATION 17!!!!
Increase the Word’s presence in your life.
however much you have it currently, double it.
Bring the Word into every aspect of your life.
- What aspect is it okay to leave out the Word?
bring a testimony of bringing the Word into a new situation in your life
Use it to cast down and take captive.
you can’t fight flesh with the flesh. Only with the Holy Spirit.
Stop thinking of the Word as a book. It’s literally a weapon. Just spirituallyh.
