Pride

Anything in me that opposes the grace of God
James 4:6 ESV
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Humility

The remarkable characteristic of God’s love which is given as a gift. Humility
1 John 5:13–15 ESV
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
Jesus said repeatedly, “He who has ears to hear, let Him hear.”

Abraham:

God’s covenant with Abraham
Genesis 12:1–3 ESV
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Over his lifetime, what did God do to make that happen? Trials, tests, exams. Fires and floods.
