And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
Introduction:
There are good reasons for doing some things fast: because life is crowding in hard, and if the thing isn't done fast it won't be done at all (Serving God), or Serving God is more rewarding than doing something else. Therefore, iron fast so you can paint slow. Shop fast so you can sew slow. Cook fast so you can spend some time with a child before it disappears into an adult.
IT’ TIME TO Make Haste and Come Down
IT’ TIME TO Make Haste and Come Down
Out Of The Tree Of CRITICISM
Criticism - the expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes.
James says the tongue is a fire a world of iniquity is on the fire of hell. Criticism causes hatred, envy, strife, and murder.
Out Of The Tree Of SLUMBER
Slumber - to sleep lightly : doze
This is one of the worst diseases that the church is faced with today.
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion,
And trust in the mountain of Samaria,
Which are named chief of the nations,
To whom the house of Israel came!
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Let us work while it is yet day.
Out Of The Tree Of PRIDE
Pride - a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.
Many of us are too high and mighty.
We like to pretend that we are what we really aren't. Remember, pride goeth before destruction.
Out Of The Tree Of SELFISHNESS
Selfishness - concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself : seeking or concentrating on one's own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others.
Rulers, politicians, and business men are selfish but the thing that breaks the heart of God is selfish Christians and church members.
Many of our plans and programs include self but exclude all else.
Many have no time for spiritual things.
Out Of The Tree Of UNFAITHFULNESS
Don't be unfaithful to church vows, or unfaithful to pay tithes.
Out Of The Tree Of AN UNFORGIVING SPIRIT
Jesus taught us to love one another.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
If your brother has ought against you leave gift be reconciled to him.
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Out Of The Tree Of SIN
No doubt some are in this tree in spite of many calls from God.
The danger of staying there is too great.
Death and judgment are too certain.
The coming of Jesus is too near. "The soul that sinneth it shall die."
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
