God’s voice is not the only voice that is speaking to us.

This other voice does not have our best interest in mind, rather our destruction.
V.1 Satan simply begins subtly with a question. This question however is meant to plant seeds of doubt that cause us to question the reliability of God’s Word.
V.2-5 Satan, now emboldened by Eves lack of understanding of what God has said, flat out lies to her while making God out to be the liar.

A person that is devoted to God’s Word and the reliability of it, is very difficult for the devil to attack.

Why do you think he spends so much of his energy trying to distract us and occupy our time with things that have no benefit for us spiritually. It makes us easy targets!

This desire to be “like God” determining for ourselves what is good and evil, is the foundation of all sin.

This was also the origin of satan’s sin as written in Isaiah 14.
Satan has now accomplished his task of making the temptation seem irresistible to them.

Just because it looks good, that does not mean it is good!

James 1:14–16 ESV
14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.
Because it is so easy for us to be deceived we must hold on to the truth of God’s Word.
Genesis 3:13 ESV
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
