Michael respected Satan

Jude 9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

I.       Michael was contending with Satan about Moses body.

A.    Michael means = “Who is like God”

B.    When Moses died, God buried him and no one know where.

1.     Deuteronomy 34:5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

C.    Satan wanted the body of Moses.

1.     We are not told why?

2.     Satan wants us, he wants us before we get saved and he wants us after we get saved.

D.    We find Michael contending with Satan about the body of Moses.

1.     He was disputing with Satan.

E.     When we talk to others and they believe different than us, what does one do?

1.     Some people say things like this, I believe that and the other person says I believe this.

2.     Which one is right? The one, which believes what the Bible, says. Lets look into this further.

II.      Michael respected the position of Satan, which God created.

A.    David always respected the position of Saul.

B.    Michael did not try to fight Satan himself.

C.    Jude talks about false teachers in this book.

1.     In verse 10, Jude tells us about false teachers talking about things they really don’t know anything about. (Read verse 10)

a)     Jude 10, But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

D.    Many people here on earth do not take the power of Satan serious.

1.     When we don’t do right, Satan wins.

2.     You hear of people worshiping Satan and have not idea what they are doing, but they think they do.

3.     We need to respect Satan for who he is.

a)     God made him and he was the most powerful of all the angels.

b)     If Michael respected Satan, we should do the same.

III.    Michael lets God take care of the problem.

A.    Michael uses God to do his work for him as we should.

B.    When Satan tempted Christ, He used the Bible to answer Satan each time.

1.     This is why it is so important to study and know God's word.

2.     Hebrews 4:12, For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

3.     Psalm 119:11, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

C.    We have the tendency to try to do everything of our self and wonder why we fail so much.

1.     When we accept Christ as our Savior, we now have Christ doing our battles for us.

a)     We can use God's Word, which is of God to battle Satan when he temps us.
