To begin, behold the mission of discipleship defined: 7-13
After teaching around in villages, Jesus called the twelve apostles to Himself. He sent them out two by two and gave them authority over demons.
-9: Jesus charged them to bring nothing except a staff, sandals, and a single tunic.
-11: He also gave them some encouragement about where to stay and how to react to opposition: “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. And if any will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.”
-13: The disciples went as Jesus had commanded and the preached the Word they had learned from Jesus. That is they called upon people to repent. In addition to preaching, they cast out many demons and healed many who were sick.
