Salvation

I.       1 Corinthians 1:21, For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

A.    Romans 1:16-17,16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

B.    If you remember salvation was given to the Jews first than it opened to the Gentles. (Which is us)

II.     Romans 3:10, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: No one here on earth is righteous & there never has been

A.    Romans 5:12, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned

1.     Who was the one man? Adam

2.     So because of Adams sin, we are born into the world with sin.

a)     They represented the human race

3.     So the moment we can into this world and started to cry, we are going to hell.

So this is the  picture of what is happening right now

B.    Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1.     Because of the sin we have from the moment we were born into this world, we are going to hell

2.     So what is the death that one gets? Phsical, spirit

III.    Romans 5:8, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

A.    While we were yet sinners, means while we were in the very act of sinning.

1.     Children disobeying

2.     Robbing a Bank

IV.   Romans 10:9-10,9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

A.    Confess is to pray to God

B.    One must truly believe in their heart

C.    That Christ died for the one who is getting saved

1.     This is personal, Christ died for you

D.    The heart believes unto righteousness

1.     One knows that doing this will get them saved

E.     The mouth one confesses to God what they believe

1.     They become saved.

2.     Just believing does not get one saved.

F.     Here is the simplest prayer recorded in the Bible for salvation

1.     Luke 18:13, And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

G.    Let us take this one step further.

1.     Luke 13:24-28,24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

2.     Matthew 7:21-24,21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock

V.    Now how do I know that I am saved?

A.    1 John 5:13, These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

B.    Galatians 2:16, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
