Storms Of Our Lives

Matthew 8:24-26,24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. 26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

I.       The storms of our lives

A.    This storm here was a big one

1.     The storm came quickly

a)     It is not uncommon for storms to come up this quick because of the terrain

b)     The lake is 600 feet below sea level and the mountainous plateau is right next to the lake

2.     The waves were going across the ship

B.    We have storms in our lives

1.     How do we let them affect our lives?

2.     The storms which we have in our lives are for some good purpose

II.     Christ was asleep

A.    Through all this storm and until the disciples woke Him

1.     Christ was asleep. Restful, not a worry in the world

2.     He knew that nothing could hurt Him

3.     He was safe

B.    As Christ was in the boat, so is He with us through life’s journey

1.     Every time you come upon some trouble in your life, I want you to think “Christ is in the boat with me”

2.     Not only is Christ with us in His presents, He also delivers by His power

3.     Christ may not help right away, but He will be timely and complete in what He does

III.    All it takes is faith

A.    Christ tells His disciples that all it takes is faith

B.    This is why some people are always happy and other are not

1.     Some know God will take care of them no matter what

C.    The disciples flee to Christ for help as should we

1.     “Lord, save us we perish”, should be our prayers

D.    Christ was sleeping because He knew God was in control

1.     The disciples on the other hand were frightened and accused Christ for not caring
