Take Heed of What We Have Been Tough
Hebrews 2:1, Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
I. We are to take earnest heed to the things we are tough
A. The things we are being tough, are they truth? Are we earnestly looking?
1. When you come to church every Sunday and hear what is being said, is it true? How do you know?
B. Do we earnestly take heed to them?
1. When you realize it is true and that what is being tough is God's word do you take heed to it?
2. Is God's word changing your life?
a) Or do you leave here no different than when you came in?
II. Take heed to what you hear
A. 2 Timothy 2:15, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
B. The things we hear every Sunday, are they real are they truth? If so is it changing your life?
C. Acts 17:11, These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
1. When you hear the radio, or tv or a Bible study or a Sunday service, is what you are listening to is it true? Is it God’s word?
III. Than verse 1 tells us, “lest at any time we should let them slip”.
A. Let them slip means = to drift past them
1. Think of being at a stream and a plastic bag full of money drifts past.
2. This also means “to neglect”
B. What must one do to be lost? Nothing
C. So what must you do to grow?
1. Take earnest heed to God's word
D. Mark 8:18, Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
1. Don’t come each week and hear the word and do nothing about it. Take heed to what God is telling you each week in His word.
2. Do something about it.
E. Joshua 23:11, Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.
1. So what are we doing, living a godly life here today in this room and when we leave here live for self or for the devil?
Conclusion:
Deuteronomy 4:9, Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Deuteronomy 32:46, And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
