We are one with Christ

Introduction: Turn to 1 Corinthians 6:16-17 (KJV)
16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Just like a woman and a man get married and become one, so do we after getting saved become one with Christ.

As we grow we get closer to Christ, just like when we get married we get closer to each other. This takes time, but you who have been married for a while know what I am talking about. We each become like the other.

I.       When we are joined with a harlot, we become one with a harlot.

A.    A harlot could be any sin we are doing in our life’s.

1.     Romans 8:6-8, For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

B.    We become one with that sin.

1.     When we embrace sin, we will become one with it.

2.     That is one reason it becomes hard for us to run to God and ask forgiveness.

II.     When we do something that Christ would not have us do, we are doing it against Him.

A.    When we sin, we hurts Christ.

1.     Weather we think it or not we do it against Christ.

B.    1 Corinthians 6:15, Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

1.     When we sin, we take a member of christ and make it a member of a harlot.

2.     We use a part of christ’s body to sin.

a)     My body has hands and legs and whatever they are used for reflexes on me.

3.     We involve christ in our sin.

4.     Let me explain.

III.    When we get saved, we become one with Christ.

A.    We are to glorify our selfs before Him.

B.    Romans 8:9-10, But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

C.    The bird is in the air; the air is in the bird.                     The fish is in the water; the water is in the fish.                  The iron is in the fire; the fire is in the iron.

1.     We who are saved are in Christ; Christ is in us.

D.    Ephesians 5:30, For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

1.     We have become one with christ.

2.     As we do this, we should show it in our lives.

Conclusion:

1 Corinthians 12:12-13 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Christ is the head and we that are saved are the members.

What we do, shows everyone around us who we really are.

What do people thing about you? Only you can answer that.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

We become the temple of God, just like it was in the Old Testiment.

Ephesians 4:30, And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

God would come into the holy of holys. It was Holy ground.

Today we have the Holy Sprirt dewelling in us ever moment of every day. Our bodys have become a Holy of Holys.

Don’t we need to act like it?

We need not use our lifes to sin, but to bring glory to Christ in everything we do.
