Well Doing

1 Peter 2:15-16,15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

What I am about to talk about this morning is because of a talk I had last week with a person who is a young Christian, who is looking around

I.       So this is the will of God

A.    Well doing

1.     Living a Christian life

2.     Living the way we ought to in Christ (Why?)

B.    Put to silence the ignorance of foolish men

1.     One of the reasons I am bringing you this sermon today is because of some of the talks I had this week

2.     The World is watching us and if we are doing wrong they see it and note it and talk to other about us

3.     I have told you about Steve being mad because some professing Christians were out partying just like he does and he ask me what is the different between him and Christians

4.     I spoke to some one this week and they told me about a biker church in this town that lives like the world and tell everyone that they love Christ.

a)     The person I talk with know the different and knew something was wrong

b)     The sad part is the person who told me this needs to grow and is looking

c)     Truly the world is watching

II.     As free man and woman

A.    Not using your Liberty the wrong way

1.     We have a lot of liberty with God

a)     It is the same as going down a highway and you are doing the speed limit. As long as you are obeying the speed limit, you don’t care how many cops are around you

b)     So now you have freedom to enjoy life, you have no worries, life is great

2.     But we are not to use it to bring others down

3.     Galatians 5:1,18,1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

a)     We are to stand fast in our liberty, but the key here is verse 18, be led of the Spirit

b)     1 Corinthians 10:23-24, 23 “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. ESV

B.    Cloke of maliciousness

1.     This is talking about people who do the wrong things and say that God said I can do it

a)     It seems that every drunk I have ran across knows 1 Timothy 5:23 which says to “use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake”

2.     Galatians 5:13, For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another

3.     Remember our actions speak louder than words

a)     We can talk unto we are blue in the face, but how we live is what people see and that is what will change those who are around us

Conclusion:

Remember what I said to start off with, people are talking out there in this town and they are talking about us behind our backs.

What are they saying? Is it because we are Christ like or that we live like the world?
