Who can separate us from God
Romans 8:35,37-39
Introduction: Romans 8:35, Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
I. Who can separate us from the love of God?
A. We have been adopted into the family of God.
1. Remember we are grafted into the vine.
2. We belong. We have a family and nobody can take it away from us. We are not alone anymore.
B. Jesus by His dead has met all the demands of the law.
1. The demands have been paid in full.
2. We belong; we have a family that really cares.
a) The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost
b) What a family to belong to.
(1) I have had many people tell me that they wish that had different parents.
3. We belong to the greatest parents one could ask for.
C. And sense my parents are Gods what can separate me from Them? Nothing.
II. Look in verse 37; We are more than conquerors.
A. Look at what we have.
1. We have the Holy Spirit within us.
a) Ephesians 1:13, In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
2. We have Jesus Christ in heaven interceding for us.
a) Romans 8:34, Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
3. We have God the Father in heaven watching over everything.
a) 1 Peter 3:12, For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
b) Proverbs 15:3, The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
B. Remember one thing, God is in control.
1. Luke 8:27-33
2. Make no bones about it; God is in control at all times.
C. As conquerors, we are getting victory in all things every day and it will continue till the day we died.
1. All one must do is trust and obey.
2. As the song says “trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey.”
III. Now turn to verse 38; Paul is persuaded that nothing can separate us from the love of God.
A. Everything that Paul mentions back in verse 36, Paul experienced in his life.
1. He knows what he is talking about.
2. Some how I feel Paul had it worse than we are ever going to have it.
B. So now He believes that nothing can separate us, no nothing.
C. Now I want you to think about something here.
1. Romans 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
a) God will use whatever comes into our lives, no matter how bad it is to bring us closer to Him.
b) So we should not look at bad things as bad, but as an opportunity for God to work in our lives.
Conclusion: We are going into a new year and there are a lot of exciting possibilities for us in God. Will you use them to bring honor and glory to Christ and at the same time help change your life to the good?
Will you say the same words Paul tells us here; For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
