Joshua 7:6-12

Israel could go through the promise land and have victory every day if they went before the Lord and keep the faith and keep growing. The moment they stop, God stop His blessing to them until they got right with Him. This is our example to follow, we can go through all the problems each and every day if we keep on growing and have that relation with Christ.

Let me give you some background.

Joshua 7:6-12,

6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads. 7 And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan! 8 O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies! 9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall encircle us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

10 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? 11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. 12 Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

I.       Israel sins and God turns His back to them

A.    After all the blessings God has given

B.    Israel still sins and because of that sin, God turn His back to them

II.     Why does this happen?

A.    Turn to Romans 7:18,18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

B.    First thing we must remember is that no good thing dwelleth in us

C.    The second thing is our will to want to do good is with us

D.    Third, how to perform that which is good I find not

III.    Romans 7:24-25, 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

A.    Romans 8:1,1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

1.     So here it is telling us that Christ can give us the victory in everything we will ever face

2.     Next we read in verse 1, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

a)     So those who do what they want day after day as they live here on earth follow after the flesh

b)     Those who walk after the Spirit each day get victory in everything that comes into their lives

B.    Joshua had victory in every battle and in everything they did as long as they walk after God

1.     This became a way of life with them

2.     The moment they stopped it, God stop taking care of them.

C.    Do you know that God never ask us to live a Christ like life?

1.     Because we can’t do with in our selves

a)     That is what Paul found out in Romans 7

2.     God wants to live the Christian life through us

a)     That is were the victory is at

b)     Paul talks about that in Roman 8
