mitochondrial Eve
mitochondrial Eve
the theory predicts that all mitochondrial genomes today should be traceable to a single woman, a 'mitochondrial Eve'. Whereas the Y chromosome is passed from father to son, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is passed from mother to daughter and son.

One FAMILY – Cain and Abel (Gen 4)
7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
Genesis 4:1–12 (ESV)
1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord.”
2 And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground.
3 In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground,
4 and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering,
5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell.
6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen?
7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
8 Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?”
10 And the Lord said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground.
11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
12 When you work the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”

· Declaration of Independence – ALL men are created equal, endowed by our CREATOR
· Pledge of allegiance – ONE nation (of 50 states) UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, with liberty and justice for ALL
WV – FOUGHT AGAINST SLAVERY –
WV is the ONLY state formed from the CIVIL WAR (slavery) – even though we are below the Mason Dixon line. We should be leading the way to racial harmony – not being vilified as a bunch of hill-billys!

Numbers 12:1–2 (ESV)

· Cush = Ethiopian = BLACK
· It may be possible that God heard the words of racism spoken in the air just as loudly as he heard Abel’s blood from the ground. God’s holiness executed judgment in both cases!
Numbers 12:10–11 (ESV)
10 When the cloud removed from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, like snow. And Aaron turned toward Miriam, and behold, she was leprous.
11 And Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, do not punish us because we have done foolishly and have sinned.

How to Heal
How to Heal
Stand Up – for others
Stand Up – for others
I will not go or stay anywhere that people of other colors are not welcomed.
· Golden Rule – love they Neighbor as yourself.
· Our nation would heal quickly if the church would love others as Christ loves the Church!
· Be smart enough to think for yourself! – Stop reposting memes! Know WHY you believe what you believe
· Break free from negative peer pressure – family – social media “friends” – coworkers (boss) – biased news sources
· Accept each man based on his own merit – honor, integrity, work ethics, attitude, personality, history, background, how he or she treats you, etc. – Personal testimony of Army enlistment.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:26–29 (ESV)
26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.
Partiality in the NT Church
Partiality in the NT Church
· We would like to think that we have cornered the market on fairness and objectivity, when 11:00 Sunday is the most segregated hour of the week – MLK?
· Should be no such thing as a “black” or “white” church
· Dr. Evans – loyalty to the Lord, because your culture could be lying to you.
Favoritism of the Rich
Favoritism of the Rich
James 2 (ESV)
1 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
1 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court?
7 Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called?
8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
Do Good to All
Do Good to All
10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. The Cross is level ground for healing
