You Shall Be Free

John 8:31-36,31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house forever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

I.       Today we celebrate Christ resurrection from the grave

A.    We that are saved serve a God that is alive and not one that is dead

B.    Christ raised from the grave to complete our way to get to heaven as well as what type of life we can live on earth

1.               1 Corinthians 15:55-57,55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

2.               Acts 2:24, Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

3.               Acts 2:27, Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

a)               Satan though he had Jesus Christ when they cursified Him.

II.     In verse 32 of John 8 we read what Christ said

A.    We shall know the truth

1.               Faith alone saves, but the faith that saves is not alone.[1]

2.               When we get saved we must have faith

3.               After we get saved faith is not alone

a)               It provokes something

b)               It provokes us to get in His word and to know about Him.

B.    The Truth shall make us free

1.               Hebrews 3:6, But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end

2.               1 Corinthians 15:58, Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord

3.               Christ dieing on the cross took care of our sins to get to heaven, but His ressurection from the grave gave us complete victory in heaven and on earth

III.    Than in verse 36 of John 8, Christ tells us

A.    If He makes us free

1.               When Christ came out of the grave, He show victory over hell

2.               We can now have peace on earth with Christ

B.    We will be free indeed

1.               Galatians 5:1, Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

2.               Christ rose from the grave, we have victory in Christ

3.               This all took place because christ rose from the grave.

Conclusion:

Matthew 16:18, And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ

May this be a day we can say?

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed”
