We all want power.

Sometimes this is the need to feel in control. Sometimes this is asserting our own way. This is not necessarily a bad thing but if we are not careful we can get caught up in power.
As we enter into Summer and then fall we as a country are going to struggle with those who want power, don’t want to give up power, and seems to give us as Christians the most power. We call it an election.

Chaos surrounds us.

The question becomes: what do we do when we feel like we are in the midst of chaos?

We must look beyond ourselves.

This is hard but necessary. We were created for more than just our own selfish desires. This is one of the great attributes of our young people. They want to leave their mark on the world and believe in things greater than themselves, generally speaking.

The Psalmist teaches us to worship God.

Worship is active.

In this Psalm it talks about playing, singing, but regardless being passionate in worship. This doesn’t mean we go “crazy” or cannot be reserved and solemn, as the time allows. It means we cannot just act like it is important and then do “nothing”.

God is true.

There is nothing false in Him

God behaves right in all things.

He is not treacherous.

God is faithful.

Even when we are unfaithful is always a constant. He does not change, though he changes the way he interacts with us.

God’s word produces action.

When God speaks things happen. The same should be true for us. We do not read Scripture just to gain knowledge but to be spurred onto something else, an action.

God is ultimately in control.

Chaos cannot stop God nor push him away. In fact, God specializes in bringing order to chaos.

Power cannot save.

This is why we must be careful in our attempts to gain power and more of it. Wether this is is political, economical, relational, etc.

We need to be people of justice.

This is not primarily concerned with legal justice. But instead, being people where all matter. Even those we disagree and especially the outcasts, those who suffer injustice, and those “not like us”.
We need to learn what Biblical justice, true justice is. I need to learn this.

Our response: depend on God.

Our response: be saved by Christ.

Our response: worship Christ daily.
