His Blood Speaks a Better Thing

Hebrews 9:11-22, Hebrews 12:24

The book of Hebrews is a logical approach to the OT.  Do you realize that up till 1968 that the book of Hebrews   was required reading of all law students, because of the way Paul reacted to arguments, Like they would say look at  how great the law is, and Paul would say yeah but Jesus is greater than the law.  Look how great Moses is, yeah but he’s better than Moses, but what about Abraham yeah but Jesus is better, what about the blood of animals that washes the sin, he’s better than the blood.  So in Hebrews 9 Paul tells us why Christ blood is better, because Christ died once & for all.  Then in chapter 12 it says his blood speaks better things than Abel’s blood.  2 Brothers 1 brings the better sacrifice & is accepted & the other was turned away.  There must have been some sort of a standard cuz if not 1 would not be accepted & the other turned away, cuz God respects principles not people.  Abel made an investment to discern God’s heart, it was not the cost of what was offered, it was the investment of finding out what God likes & bring it to him that blessed God.  It’s not a big offering, it’s not a lot of energy that moves God, it simply finding out what God likes & bringing it to him.  Ask God what is it that you like, rather than bringing him some stale worship or a dead praise, or the same old service every week, find out what makes him happy & do it.  It’s not about us being happy it’s about him being happy, that’s why folk can praise today & back slide tomorrow cuz you have no strength because you’ve been responding to what you like & not what he likes.  So Abel’s blood was spilled and the word says that blood of Jesus speaks a better thing.  What was it that the blood of Abel spoke?  The law of recipication states that whatever was exacted must also be the equitable reimbursement, in other words if you took a life you owe a life.  But the judgment of God doesn’t seem as harsh; it is somewhat lenient in this case.  You killed a guy & the curse is that your corn is not going to grow.  Why not require his life?  I believe now understand that this is not mention in the scriptures but I believe that it is theologically implied, is that what Abel’s blood cried was the reason that God did not kill Cane, cuz God should have killed him, you took a life, you owe a life, but when God showed up not only did God say he wasn’t going to kill him, but he wasn’t going to allow anyone to kill him either.  Because the blood of Abel even though it was spilled, it still had compassion and if an imperfect man’s blood could cry that, how much more does the blood of Jesus cry? For things we are guilty of, what does the blood Jesus speak if it speaks better things?  Sometimes I think we preach a really big devil & a really small God, but I preach just the opposite.  There has never been a time that you backslid & went back into the world that the devil didn’t take you back, he’s never rejected you, he’s always been waiting with open arms, come to me.  If the devil has been waiting for you, how much more will your Father if every time you make a mistake & want to come home to your daddy, how much more is your father waiting for you, he doesn’t want to know how many times or who you was with, all he wants to know is are you sorry & ready to come back home.   When the blood is applied a new convert is getting forgiveness for his sins, a believer is getting deliverance from there sin.  It is good to know that God will be there if I call, but its better to know that I don’t even have to call & he will still be there, let me prove it the bible says “While you were yet still sinners Christ died for you”.  He called you out of darkness into his marvelous light, you were chosen in him before the foundations, you didn’t come to him just as you were, and he came to you.  You must understand that Calvary was not plan B, it was plan A.  God didn’t wake up when Adam sinned & say Oh myself look what he did.  God knew I made you I know what your going to do, but I’m still going to make you knowing that you’re going to mess stuff up.  But I’ve already got a healing.  I already got a plan. Let me show you grace.  If God made Adam knowing what Adam was going to do, God saved you knowing what you was going to do, knowing we were going to wrestle w/some stuff & mess up, but he still saved you.  Adam sinned & had to work among the thorn & thistles, a picture of his flesh.  Remember the story of Abraham & Isaac, and the son ask where is the sacrifice & Abe said the Lord will provide HIMSELF a sacrifice, not get one but HIMSELF, the time came Abe said behold there is a ram tied up in a thicket of thorns, but that was just an animal in a bush, but in the NT you have the Lamb Jesus w/crown of thorns dying to save whosoever will.  Jesus was crucified between 2 thieves, 1 is a mocker, the other has compassion & asks Jesus to remember him when he comes into his kingdom.  They pierce him in the side & blood & water flowed, 2 ordinances of the church communion & baptism, but they pierced him in the side so that we could be engrafted into the body of Christ, blood in & blood out.  See if I’m outside of him I can be accused, outside of him I can be found guilty, but when I’m on the inside of him the devil gets froze, cuz it’s in him I live, in him I move, and I have my being.  That’s why Paul said it’s no longer I who lives, but Christ on the inside, your not messing w/me, your messing w/Jesus.  2 things the blood does. 1. It delivers you from your conscience – it is hard to get deliverance from yourself, I can get deliverance from you, I don’t have to answer the phone, but when it’s me.  Book of Hebrews says it purges our memories, so that I can forget those things which are behind me.  2. It delivers me from the wrath of God -  God has a right to require my life cuz the wages of sin is death, but every time the accuser of the brethren shows up with the evidence, God says where is he, devils says well he was just here, God says I’ll judge him cuz I’m  a judge that’s what I do but you must find him 1st, but the whole time you was covered in Christ’s blood.  If God can’t touch you, you need to know that neither can the devil.  His blood speaks a better thing.  Tell your neighbor I know it was the blood for me.
