According to Matthew 7:1, Jesus commanded the religious leaders of His day to not judge. The reason He gave them this command is because their standard of measure was wrong. They weren't judging according to the new way of the kingdom. Also, they didn't understand God's heart. They magnified the faults of others, and failed to extend mercy. The Pharisee's refusal to extend mercy to others was the bigger issue(the log in their eye).
