God Made them Male & Female Gen. 1:26-31

God made man in His image

An image is a reflection. It reflects the object of reality. When we look in the mirror we see a reflection of what we look like. This is the way that God made us. He made us in perfection. He gave us attributes that are a reflection of who He is.
1. Moral Aspects - This simply means we are morally accountable to God for our actions. Animals are not. God establishes moral commands for us that we are to abide by. When we live in the boundaries or liberation of what God has established we are reflecting Him. God has set moral limits within the family unit. Children obey your parents! Do not commit adultery.
2. Spiritual Aspects- This means that we can relate to God. We can communicate with Him. We can have a relationship with Him. We can experience salvation. We can pray for others. Animals and plants cannot do this. A family that does not a have relationship with the Lord will face the challenges of the world without the wisdom of God.
3. Mental Aspects- We have the ability to reason and use logic. We have the ability to communicate with language. We have the ability to create music and art. We have the mental capacity to understand time. Our emotions are much more complex than that of animals. We must use our mental capacities to strengthen our family units.
4. Relational Aspects- We have the capacity to love. Animals do have a sense of community, but not the love that God has given to man. Animals have community through instinct. We have relationship through love. So much so that God has allowed man and woman to enter into a covenant of marriage.
5. Physical Aspects- God has given us physical attributes that he has. Not that God has a body, because he is Spirit, but to function as God does. God sees so he gave us eyes to see. God hears so he gave us ears to hear. God speaks so he gave us mouths to speak. We are to use the physical aspects God gives us to build a strong family.

God created man and woman to procreate and rule

God created all things and put man and woman in charge of his creation. We cannot do this alone. We must have family to do this. I am mindful of how in the past families were much larger because they relied on one another to grow food and provide for their family and others. Families are created to fulfill the purposes of God. Use our family as an example. Pastor, Teacher, Social Worker, Physician.

Family Begins With Marriage Gen. 2:18-25

The Lord determined that it was not good for man to be alone. He caused Adam to fall asleep and He took a rib from his side and fashioned into a woman. God formed man but fashioned woman. This was so astonishing to Adam that he praised God and honored Eve. Just as a note. God had created everything and there was not a helper suitable for Adam. So God made Woman from Adam’s side. She is his helper. What is she suppose to help him do?
He was called to care for the garden. Eve was to help Adam with the management of the garden. Wives are called to help the husband manage the family.
He was called to rule over the birds of the air and the beasts of the field. This was too much for Adam to do. God gave him a woman to help Adam rule. This takes two heads instead of one.
He was called to procreate. He can only do that with woman. God gave Adam eve so he could be fruitful and multiply
He was to be held accountable. God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve was given to help him be accountable to this. Believe it or not it takes two people dedicated to one another to make a marriage work.
