In the vs 1-3 Paul expressed his concerned for the Colossians. He hadn’t been there nor did he plant the church but he was concern just as if he did. His absence as well as his inability to see them face to face didn’t take away his concern. He wanted the Colossians to be comforted and knit together in love. He knew what the attack was toward the church. His desire was that they would be fully committed to gospel & doctrine of Jesus Christ.
BECAUSE
1 of the 5 errors in the church was ENTICING WORDS
Colossians 2:4 KJV 1900
And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
Some men would use big words to lead others on a wild goose chase. They sound good but had false conclusions.
Remember the serpent beguiled Eve.
Colossians 2:5 KJV 1900
For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

Colossians 2:6 KJV 1900
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

The hymn verse that says, My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus blood and righteousness.
Colossians 2:8 KJV 1900
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Beware = Look out!
Paul addressed the Colossian heresy that was influenced with old traditions: Judaism, mysticism, mystery cults, etc.
Human tradition were derived by humans and not from God
Galatians 1:11 KJV 1900
But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
Rudiments of the world - water, earth, wind & fire

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Nature of God & the nature of the Holy Spirit were present in Christ.
Colossians 2:10 KJV 1900
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
We are complete in him and ready to walk in Him
Colossians 2:11 KJV 1900
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Circumcision was a physical sign of covenant but a circumcision of the heart weighs more.
Colossians 2:12 KJV 1900
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
The spiritual significance of baptism
Colossians 2:13 KJV 1900

We once were dead but not He has quickened us and forgave us of all trespasses
Colossians 2:14 KJV 1900
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Is like paying off the debt against us
