Father’s Day - Love of the Father
Father’s Day - Love of the Father
7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Ask the fathers to answer this question; when it comes to my family do I move with Godly fear?
What does that look like?
What can a father’s love shape? Give examples
9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
What does it mean that God is love?
What are the benefits of knowing that God is love?
God’s love is an action, how has He demonstrated His love towards us? (Personalize this question)
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
Do we pray for our children, grandchildren, or any person that the LORD has put in my path if you are not a parent?
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
The love God is unique compared to any other love we experience. Do I understand this? Explain
14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;
What motivates me? Is it the love of God?
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Does your heart ache for your children to walk with the LORD?
Does it ache to participate in their walk?
2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;
Do I treat my family and anyone that the LORD has put me over as His?
Do you feel a longing when you are apart from those you love?
Are we doing our part to stay connected?
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
The enemy wants to disconnect what God wants to connect, do I believe this? If so what am I doing to connect with others during this time?
Quote: Any area in my life that is not glistening with hope is tainted by a lie! Do I believe this? If so do I have hope in all things especially in this time that we find ourselves in.
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
What do I need for this season? Am I taken my request to the one who can answer?
Do I enjoy the LORD?
How do I enjoy the LORD?
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
Do we need strengthening right now?
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Paul is praying for depth in our love for God, how deep is my love for God?
How far reaching is His love for me?
How far reaching is His love through me?
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Does the love of God have freedom to express itself through me?
Do we trust God to work out all things for our benefit?
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
