Yesterday right here at “The Message” we studied the first part of the narrative of events when Jesus predicted his death— from it we learned 3 things:
THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS IS THE BEGINNING OF HARVEST
I WILL GIVE UP MY WORLDLY LIFE TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE
THE FATHER WILL HONOR ME FOR SERVING HIS SON JESUS
Today let’s see how this event conversation ended and see what we can learn from it
Open your Bible still in JOHN 12:27-36, you know what to do when you get there— type Amen!

27 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. 30 Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die. 34 The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?” 35 Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. 36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.
It can be remembered that this conversation evolved after some Greeks attending the Passover festival in Jerusalem came to Philip requesting to see Jesus
Philip told Andrew about the request, and they both went to Jesus to tell Him— and this is how the Lord responded to them
WHEN: Triumphal Entry
WHERE: Jerusalem
WHO: Jesus, Disciples, Some Greeks, Crowd
WHAT: Jesus predicted His death

IT WAS FOR THIS VERY REASON I CAME TO THIS HOUR
Jesus know all along— God was in control all along
After all that had been said about the Pharisees and the antagonist of Jesus— they are all meant by the Father to lay the predicate leading to the death of the Lord Jesus by crucifixion
Jesus came to fulfill the Father’s will
A VOICE CAME FROM HEAVEN
Some thought it was a thunder, others said an angel had spoken to the Lord after He asked the Father to glorify His name— Jesus said
THIS VOICE WAS FOR YOUR BENEFIT NOT MINE
Jesus further said— Now is the judgment time on this world [decision to either accept nor reject Him]
WHEN I AM LIFTED UP FROM THE EARTH
In other words Jesus said, when He is crucified— He told them in advance the kind of death how he was going to die
The crowd protested and invoke the law [Torah & Old Testament]— they insisted that it was written that the Messiah will remain forever, and argued “how can you say, ‘the Son of Man must be lifted up?’”
WHO IS THE SON OF MAN
One of the Messianic title used by Jesus to express his heavenly origin, earthly mission, and glorious future coming
Light of the world, Lord, Son of God, Son of David, Messiah, the Savior
Instead of responding to their question directly— Jesus told them
WALK WHILE YOU HAVE THE LIGHT
Jesus is the light of the world— he made used of another messianic title to point to himself
Further saying, whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going— they don’t know their life’s purpose
And he ended that conversation by saying..
BELIEVE IN THE LIGHT
So that you may become the children of light— [JOHN 1:12]
