The One Question

What can we do to better serve you in this time?

This is a question that is equally difficult to ask as well as to answer. By asking this question shows so much compassion and gentleness.

This question has so much weight attached to it, and to look beyond ones own self and to consider one another enough to search the heart of one that might be suffering through a rough season in their life, not necessarily looking for an answer as if it was a fixable problem, that in one day this all will be gone away.

A question that was asked not only to show that there’s a deep concern for me as a brother but to also know for a moment whats actually in my heart.

The question can not be answered in only Black Lives Matter format, it can’t be resolved by me saying All Lives Matter, the only thing that has foundational truth is that “Jesus Christ Matters”

If you guys can just give me a spiritual 5 min I will share how God is answering this for us in His Word.

Romans 15:1–2 NKJV

1 We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

The Responsibility of Strength

You being strong means you can bare the weight of the ones who are weak.

That can be a great responsibility, and the power in that is knowing in moments of weakness, I can look to my brother and sister for support even if I don’t even understand what I’m feeling.

What I have learned as a christian is that we can sometimes be dogmatic and aggressive when we are trying to press upon them our views and feelings. Sometimes we find ourselves thinking that everyone should think how we think, respond how we think they should respond. The biggest mistake we can make is to make an assumption, that if they know better they would do better.

Galatians 6:1 NKJV

1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

So restoration is the key to us helping each other. Because just like that it could have been you or me being caught up in a whirlwind.

There’s a certain amount of sensitivity that we need to have, a certain amount of grace that needs to come from us.

Romans 15:3 NKJV

3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”

Romans 15:4 NKJV

4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

And here we have it the answer to the question , What can you do for me in the season of chaos and turmoil?
