Isaiah 30:18 KJV 1900
18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, And therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: For the Lord is a God of judgment: Blessed are all they that wait for him.
“The heaviest obligation lying upon the Christian Church today is to purify and elevate her concept of God until it is once more worthy of Him - and of her.” A.W. Tozer
Before I can deal with God as a Judge or one who bring justice, I want to deal with the question of Evil
If evil exist does that mean that God in himself is evil?
Why? Because I want to raise the case that God is the only righteous judge
Dr. Carroll says this
"The presence of evil does not indicate God's creation of it nor God's impotence to deal with it. God will justify Himself once and for all before every creature that His ways are just and that He only is worthy to be praised and worshipped." Dr. Carrol Thompson
Let me say something that is very elementary
God is GOOD
The Devil is BAD Or evil
Now God gave every man the ablity and choice to chose who or what would govern their life
CS Lewis says this,
“God created things which had free will. That means creatures which can go wrong or right. Some people think they can imagine a creature which was free but had no possibility of going wrong, but I can't. If a thing is free to be good it's also free to be bad. And free will is what has made evil possible. Why, then, did God give them free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. A world of automata -of creatures that worked like machines- would hardly be worth creating. The happiness which God designs for His higher creatures is the happiness of being freely, voluntarily united to Him and to each other in an ecstasy of love and delight compared with which the most rapturous love between a man and a woman on this earth is mere milk and water. And for that they've got to be free. Of course God knew what would happen if they used their freedom the wrong way: apparently, He thought it worth the risk
Augustine says
“God judged it better to bring good out of evil than to suffer no evil to exist.” Augustine
G.K. Chesterton make a clear point
“To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it.” G.K. Chesterton
The next question because question is God an accessory to the evil if he new what would happen and did nothing?
No!
God knew and He told us in his word of the things that would happen because of evil and sin.
But he didn’t stop it
Actually God did do something!!!
What?
The Lamb (Jesus) was slain (the Cross) before the foundation of the word (Creation)
Revelation 13:8 NASB95
8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.
This mean this was done in eternity
Proving that God was God even before the beginning of time
Now this is what justice is.
Now the Lamb being slain is God judgment on sin.
Back to the beginning in Genesis 3:21 we see after man fall God kills an animal and take the skins of it and cover Adam and Eve
Here we see a couple of truths
1. For something guilt to live something innocent must die
2. One must be covered in the blood
Again this is God judgment and justice. Something must happen.
Sin must be punished and dealt with.
Romans 6:23 NASB95
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now this is a law…
God told them if you eat of this fruit.. you will be judge and the judgment is death.
But instead of killing them He kill an innocent animal
There must be judgment upon sin…
The lamb was slain..
For something guilty to live…
1 Peter 2:24 NASB95
24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
Justice says God is righteous and will do right.
And because of this we can trust him
Psalm 33:5 NASB95
5 He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the Lord.
Justice is when there is a wrong done. That wrong is corrected judge or punished
Man has sinned… matter of fact all have sinned
Justice is God pouring out his wrath on the evil one.
Instead of God killing you when you sinned… because there has to be a punishment for your sin
The lamb was slain before the foundation of the world.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 NASB95
9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
he bore my sin he bore my pain…
meaning I don’t have to be stuck in sin. Because the lamb has been slain for me
I don’t have to die of cancer because the lamb has been slain for me
I don’t have to live in poverty.. because the lamb has been slain for me
And the lamb is good.. and there is no evil in him
I don’t have to be depressed.. because the lamb has been slain for me..
I don’t have to struggle with loneliness.. because the lamb has been slain for me
Amos 5:24 NASB95
24 “But let justice roll down like waters And righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
God Is good and he will do right.
Oh God is Justice let justice flow..
Every time a sinner become a saint God is pouring out justice on the devil
Every time someone get healed of a sickness God is pouring out justice on the devil
When you get set free from depression God is pouring out justice on the devil
Every time we break the cycle of poverty God is pouring out justice on the devil
God not just a God of Justice when the murder gets looked up
Or the Robber goes to jail.. He’s a good of Justice when your marriage comes back together
He’s not just a God of justice when the drug house gets shut down hes a good of justice when that young girl prays for direction and God gives it to her..
Oh God of Justice, bring your justice
Blessed are all they that wait for him.
Because of this reality, when we face tribulation. We do not have to fear, because he will give us Justice and his salvation
Luke 1:71–75 NASB95
71 Salvation from our enemies, And from the hand of all who hate us; 72 To show mercy toward our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant, 73 The oath which He swore to Abraham our father, 74 To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear, 75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.
(Why?)
Might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.
I’ll close with these prophetic words concerning the kingdom of God and all that are in it.
Isaiah 51:4–5 NASB95
4 “Pay attention to Me, O My people, And give ear to Me, O My nation; For a law will go forth from Me, And I will set My justice for a light of the peoples. 5 “My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait for Me, And for My arm they will wait expectantly.
His justice like a light to the people. For he is near
Just wait for it
