The other action word

There is a school of thought that when it comes to faith all you need to do is believe.
Martin Luther once said, “Miracles take place not because they are performed but because they are believed.” Simon Lake believed in the possibilities of a submarine long before it was perfected. The Wright brothers believed in air transportation years before their daring flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
The bible says in
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
to have faith we must act on that faith. and I mean to act as that thing you have asked for has already been answered.
we are going to look at some example this morning of faith and how each person responded in faith to God.
Abraham left his home when
God called Abraham to leave all that he knew to go to a land that he knew not for a blessing he had yet to receive
Genesis 12:1–4 NKJV
1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” 4 So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
God told him to leave and he will make him a great nation
God will sometimes call us to leave all that we know for something new and different so that he can develop the person he needs us to be.
He also said that others will be blessed because of where he placed his servant.
There can’t be a blessing of other’s if the servant does not go it faith.
Exodus 14:13–16 NKJV
13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” 15 And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

Moving by Faith

God said to GO FORWARD, they were afraid and because of that fear they were standing still
what fears are keeping you from moving forward in faith
are you like the children of Israel looking at what is behind you and missing the blessings before you?
The waters did part till Moses stretch out his rod.
In order for us to live is that faith that God wants us to develop we have to walk towards that sea that is not yet parted know that God is going to do it.
Vs 14. Is a reminder that God WILL fight for you and you shall hold your peace.
Matthew 14:25–31 NKJV
25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
He was excited to see Jesus at first, so are we. Vs 28
He wanted to do what Jesus did, so do we. Vs 29
But when he got knocked around a little by the wind, he became afraid. so do we. Vs 30
But as With Peter Jesus is there to reach out and catch us in out weakness so that we do not sink any further.

Faiths and workds

James 2:14 NKJV
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
when our faith is place in Jesus alone there will always be works
Proverbs 6:6–11 NKJV
6 Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, 7 Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, 8 Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. 9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep— 11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.
Solomon talks about how the ant functions in these verses
He works because he needs food
He prepares for the winter will come
There is no one to oversee if the ant is doing what he needs to or not.
When you believe that something will happen, you will act accordingly.
John 9:4–5 NKJV
4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Because I believe

Do you believe in the work?
Do you believe in the one who sent Christ?
I started out talking about faith and how it is an action word, this christian things is not something you just accept and just sit around for the blessings it’s going to take some actions on you part. God has a plan for your life. But it will take some actions on your part to be a part of that plan.
2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
It is in the walk with Christ that the changes happen. They come as you experience each day what it means to be a disciple.
Through the action of prayer
Through the action of study
Through the action of service
Through the action of being more like Jesus, walk in the path of Jesus and exercise your faith.
