I Learned that Courage was not the absence of fear but the Triumph over it (NELSON MELDELLA)
The last two weeks I have preached about boldness what it is to Stand for God I have preached from the book of Daniel, How he stood up against the kings orders in boldness and was blessed, I preached on The three men who stood when all others fell to their knees they stood for the one true God and were thrown into the fiery furnace yet jesus was with them and not a hair on their head was scorched by the Flame, Today we will look at Daniel chapter 6 when Daniel goes against the kings decree that would prevent him from praying to God Daniel again faced with death fears only God and not for the fear of his own life. Boldness Over the next two weeks we will look at Peter and his boldness for Christ and to wrap the series up we will look at Christ his boldness for us and how he has called us to be willing to take up our own cross and follow him in boldness without fear
1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; 2 and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss. 3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. 4 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then these men said, “We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”
6 So these governors and satraps thronged before the king, and said thus to him: “King Darius, live forever! 7 All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions. 8 Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.” 9 Therefore King Darius signed the written decree.
10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
11 Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. 12 And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king’s decree: “Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?”
The king answered and said, “The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.”
13 So they answered and said before the king, “That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.”
14 And the king, when he heard these words, was greatly displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him. 15 Then these men approached the king, and said to the king, “Know, O king, that it is the law of the Medes and Persians that no decree or statute which the king establishes may be changed.”
16 So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.” 17 Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed.
18 Now the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; and no musicians were brought before him. Also his sleep went from him. 19 Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
21 Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! 22 My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”
23 Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.
24 And the king gave the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.
25 Then King Darius wrote:
To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth:
Peace be multiplied to you.
26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel.
For He is the living God,
And steadfast forever;
His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed,
And His dominion shall endure to the end.
27 He delivers and rescues,
And He works signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth,
Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
Christians ought to be the Boldest people in the World not cocky not sure of ourselves but Sure of Him who is in us ( AW Tozer)
What do i see when i read the scriptures Well Ill tell you what i don't see i don't see the average American Christian type who is Luke warm that is so comfortable they they need not or have little need that all they do is want more but when called to service gripe complain and hide in fear. NO what I see in scripture are truly brave men and woman who gave everything knowing that it would cost hem greatly i see a people led by the Loin of Juda the people filled with the Fire of the Holy God that fear not for their faith has them steadfast a people of Honor a people of courage a people of boldness that would walk into the middle of the enemy and preach the good news of Jesus only to be immediately stoned to death that's the type of Christians i See in scripture here in America we want not we need not we have become so filled full of ourselves that we desire not to serve anything but that of our own bellies this is not the christian of the bible instead i see such Christians trailed about in the revaluation of jesus as the luke-warm Church neither hot or cold good for absolutely nothing and God would Rather spew you out of His mouth it pleases him not to see the state of american Christianity Its time to stand time to take back our faith from the Lukewarm believers we must be filled with the spirit of God You have heard it said how can a man be saved Jesus answered the one must be born again
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”
10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
I see allot of religion I see allot of baptist I see allot of Catholics I see allot of Pentecostals church of christ you name it. But I see very little Christians.......now your are going to say wait just a minute preacher baptist are Christians, They can be but it doesn't ensure that they are I see so many wrapped up in traditions of men rather that being born again of the Spirit.
You want faith Like Daniel
You want to be bold the meshach shedrach and abendego standing for your faith when your life in in the balance you want to see mountains move you want to see the glory of God then you must be born again baptized in his spirit your foundation must not be tied to the church to the pastor to the denomination to the tradition but your foundation your every being must be washed by his Spirit
The time is near the hour is at hand God is allowing caous in our streets as a act of judgment on this wicked generation On America who was once founded as one nation under God but have allowed every sin imaginable against the Holy God in the name of tolerance
This is not boldness this is not Love to Love means to tell someone the truth even if it hurts. Because of the state of our church the meekness of our church the fear that is controlling our church we now see the wrath of a just God being poured out on America.
So what can we do?
Be Bold forsake yourself Put God first in your life in your marriage in your friendships cut loose anything or anyone that would lead you into temptation. forsake the temptations of the flesh be baptized by the Spirit of the living God be bold in you walk never wavering telling people the good news even if it brings heat into your life Repent for the ungodliness in your life confess your sins and get right with Jesus Seek him daily hourly in every moment in all things you do do it for his glory do with all your heart be the example of a spirit led person let the world see the light again the boldness again the courage of Gods people again and you watch the darkness flee back into the shadows when the true light the true church that bears the light of Christ Stands For Him you do this and Watch God Honor you honor this community honor this country.
Don’t wait for someone else to stand up and do something God is calling you he is calling you today will you stand will you put your armor of God on today be bold be courageous stand for him will you do this today?
1 The wicked flee when no one pursues,
But the righteous are bold as a lion.
31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
