Welcome
Intro
As I thought about what God would have me preach this morning
The song Because He Lives came to mind and I listened to it while I was preparing the message and I don’t ask Doyal to play certain songs but this particular one I did
The Chorus of the song goes like this
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
What truth that is for us today
As I was preparing this mornings message I was struck with a few thoughts
It is time that we take a breath
maybe you don’t need to take a breath but I do
It seems since March our world has literally been turned upside down and tossed around and still is not right side up
our world, our country, our state, and city seem to be in full chaos mode
maybe you are not there but I would bet this morning if we are honest with each other most of us are there
maybe you are frustrated, tired, hurt, confused, anxious
This morning we need to focus on some truths from Gods word and begin to rest in Jesus
We need to be still and know that God is seated on the throne in
10 “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
The Psalmist is telling you and I that we need to stop it
We need to stop all the business, all the running around, all the worrying, all the watching and worrying about the world
We need to know that God is Lord
We also need to know that the God of the universe will one day be exalted among all the nations
Seriously church we need to be still stop the worrying and running about
Stop giving so much attention to what this world is doing and look to Jesus
Stop focusing so much on the news and what the governor and or president are saying, or who says what on social media
And start focusing on Jesus, look to where Jesus is at work and go there!
That requires church that we rest in the Lord
29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Please hear me because I think this is what we do
We sprint ahead with Jesus and then we get burnt out and frustration sets in and then bitterness and anger set it
Remember what happens when our cups become empty and we try and fill others up with an empty cup
then after a while we stop everything we are doing for the Lord
we stop our reading and stop praying and stop studying
Then we are no good to anyone
I think we need to find time wether it be each day or each week or each month and maybe each year to simple rest in Jesus
That doesn’t mean that we stop everything we are doing
That means trusting the Lord He will supply
It means to continue to read and pray
We continue to run after Jesus and allow Him to refresh us to lift us up to comfort us through our personal relationship with Jesus
We refocus our attention, stop taking on so much, maybe it is taking a break, a short break from the excursion of ministry and allow yourself to ministered too
that doesn’t mean stop reading, and stop coming to church
Because church what is going on in the world will only cause you a headache and heartache
some of us are so frustrated and upset right now because we are glued to the media, the news, social media
That does nothing to grow us in our walk with Jesus, if anything it distracts us from our walk with Jesus
this morning i want to encourage you
Please understand that Jesus loves you
Some of you simply need to hear that Jesus loves you
JESUS LOVES YOU
1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
to know that truth changes us
please understand that you will not fully know this truth until you are in heaven
but listen to me church the deeper you go into the garden, the more you get out of the boat and walk on the water, the more you will experience God
we should live our lives changed because you know for sure that the God of the universe loves you
This should change the way you carry yourself, how you talk, how spend your money, how you work
Because you know that the God of the universe loves you
We have heard it before but God thinks you are to die for
God loves you and I enough to die for us
Some of you need to hear that truth this morning that Jesus Loves You
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Along with Jesus Loves you
You need to understand that nothing can separate you from the Love of Jesus
Jesus’s love for you is not based on what you bring to the table but all about what Jesus brings to the table
Jesus doesn’t love because what you do for Him, or for how much you love, or how good you are
Rather Jesus loves you because He is
Stop giving into to those thoughts that this world, or all the bad things you have done will out weight God’s love for you
Because there is not even a scale for that stuff
It is all about what Jesus did on the cross for you and I
And the Bible says that nothing can separate you from the Love of God
Because Jesus Lives we can go out tomorrow and share the Good news
Because Jesus lives
33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
Along with Jesus loving you and that nothing can separate you from His love
is that Jesus has overcome the world
There is peace in Jesus
Because Jesus Lives, there is peace
Please here because we talk about elections and if this person or that person gets elected and you absolutely should exercise your voting privileges
But know this, peace will not come from who sits in the white house, peace will not come from who is in charge of Kansas
Peace will only come from the creator
Because He has overcome the world
Because He Lives
Because He lives there is peace for you and I
Be encouraged Because Jesus has beaten sin and death
And rather then get so wrapped up in the worlds issues, you and I are to run to Jesus during this time
So maybe it means you get off social media, maybe you stop listening to so much news, maybe you stop the conversation when it turns to all the junk
I am not saying stick your head in the sand and pretend like it doesn’t happen
I am saying don’t let it be lord of your life, because God is a very jealous God and will not stand to be 2nd place in your life
Jesus has beaten sin and death period
10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
This morning we will end with this verse
Because Jesus lives
you and I have life!
understand this
The devil comes to steal what you have, kill what you have, and then utterly destroy all you have
Don’t let the devil steal your peace, your sanity, your joy
Jesus comes to deal with sin once and for all and then his resurrection is so that you and I have life because of that
Because Jesus lives, so do you and I
Because He lives, you and I can get up tomorrow and have joy, and peace in a world utterly filled with chaos
This morning as the bad comes up
We move into the time of invitation
The invitation is this
maybe you are here this morning and do not have a personal relationship with Jesus
we want to invite you to the front and you can meet with someone who can open up the Bible and show you this morning how you can begin a personal relationship with Jesus
Or maybe you are here this morning and you already have a personal relationship with Jesus
and you are anxious and frustrated and tired
maybe you need to spend sometime at the altar in pray this morning
the altar is open
