Psalm 144:9 NKJV
9 I will sing a new song to You, O God; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,
Psalm 96:1–2 NKJV
1 Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Psalm 33:3 NKJV
3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Psalm 98:1 NKJV
1 Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.

“A New Song from the Heart invites the Holy Spirit”

A new song means to exalt God, create your own music, lyrics and beat. A new song can be through tongues, or by hallowing the name of God.
But from our scriptures, it seems like a new song, is not just really a new song to God.
Psalm 98:1–2 NKJV
1 Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. 2 The Lord has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations.
Why should we sing to God a new song? Because He has done marvelous things. Because He has made known to us His salvation, God has revealed His righteousness to us.
Isaiah 42:10 NKJV
10 Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise from the ends of the earth, You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, You coastlands and you inhabitants of them!
The “new song” here pertains to the new things that Yahweh had declared in the previous verse.
Isaiah 42:9 NKJV
9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.”
This refers to the new experience that we have rather than a “new song”
This may also be true to those previous verses that we have read about singing a new song to God.

Inviting the Holy Spirit through a New Song from the Heart

Let us study Psalm 40 in light of understanding a “New Song”
I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.
Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols. O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.
You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand[a]— you don’t require burnt offerings or sin offerings. Then I said, “Look, I have come. As is written about me in the Scriptures: I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”
Reading from the New Living Translation:
What have we observed in the verses? Let us look at the first two. the Psalmist here is narrating on how God has helped him from His situation.
Notice the transition from v2 to v3.
4 Things learned in Psalm 40 regarding a “New Song”
We need to experience God for us to sing a new song to Him.
Our personal experience with God (our salvation) will lead us to trusting God
God desires faithful hearts and lives (Ps 40:6-7) see Heb 10:5-9
To follow God requires an action from us
Ps. 40:3 - trust - batach - bataek, (hebrew) בָּטַח bâṭach, baw-takh'; a primitive root; properly, to hie for refuge (but not so precipitately as H2620); figuratively, to trust, be confident or sure:—be bold (confident, secure, sure), careless (one, woman), put confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust.
This new song is a result of what Jesus had done in the cross
John 5:36 NKJV
36 But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

Ezekiel 36:25–27 NKJV
25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
When we became born again, our hearts has been redeemed by Jesus
John 7:37–39 NKJV
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 7:16–17 NKJV
16 Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
Hebrews 10:22 NKJV
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Jesus quenches every thirst
Jesus once again declared that what He is doing here on earth is not His personal will but the will of the Father. He is showing everyone that He is being and obedient Son following the instructions of His Father. It can be noted that in v17, we can see that anyone who is doing the will of God will be able to “know” meaning being aware, to learn or discover. This means that if anyone is following the will of God, we will have the discernment through His word and through personal revelation.Jesus declared talking to everyone in the synagogue, “if anyone thirsts, let Him come to me and drink.” Jesus offers himself to us without any ifs/buts, just an open invitation to come to Him and drink.

“A New Song from the Heart invites the Holy Spirit”

John 4:23–24 NKJV
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Spirit (Greek) - Pneuma - Numa
the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son
sometimes referred to in a way which emphasizes his personality and character (the "Holy" Spirit)
sometimes referred to in a way which emphasizes his work and power (the Spirit of "Truth")
never referred to as a depersonalized force
the spirit, i.e. the vital principal by which the body is animated
the rational spirit, the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides
Pneuma - used 385x in the Bible, 226 of which pertains to the Spirit of God
Galatians 4:6–7 NKJV
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Truth (Greek) - for John 4:23 - Aletheia - Alaytheya
Definition: objectively
what is true in any matter under consideration
truly, in truth, according to truth
of a truth, in reality, in fact, certainly
what is true in things appertaining to God and the duties of man, moral and religious truth
in the greatest latitude
the true notions of God which are open to human reason without his supernatural intervention
2 Corinthians 3:17–18 NKJV
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Freedom can only come from Jesus. We might experience temporal freedom in the world, but one that is eternal and lasting can only come from Jesus.
John 8:31–32 NKJV
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
True worship cannot be accomplished without the Holy Spirit
Romans 12:1 NKJV
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Photons
Facts about Photons - Physics, photons are in all matter including our bodies, these are smaller than atoms
Photons are particles of light, light waves and sound waves
These photons show that humans are really created to worship the Lord
Genesis 1:3–4 NKJV
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
Genesis 2:7 NKJV
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
