In the midst of a pandemic, we see price gouging on everything from tissue to hand sanitizer, vitamins to food. We’re getting smaller portions at the same or increased prices at the restaurants. Some are frantically trying to find supplies to ensure safe environments within their homes and businesses. To find a can of Lysol spray is like trying to find needle in a haystack. But as we look for some encouragement in these tough times, let me turn your attention to the Psalms.
This particular psalm is written by David. It is one of the seven acrostic or alphabetical psalms. We don’t know the occasion of this psalm but it is obviously written in David’s old age. Many Christian throughout the years have turned to this psalm for comfort and help when they are going through tough times. Especially when it seems the ungodly are prospering around them.
Our text will teach us about God’s continuous provisions for the righteous.
God will always provide for the righteous.

His Continuous Presence

God will never forsake the righteous.
The righteous not the perfect are those who are characterized by righteous actions and morals. Those who act in accordance with God’s standard.
God never forsakes, He will never forsake them.
The psalmist David declares this as a result of his experience.
David is an old man now trying to convince a younger generation.
He was young and is now old.
Be God is with the righteous, he is able to help others day and night temporarily or for a limited amount of time.
I remember being at my grandmother’s growing up and she didn’t have alot of money. But there was never a time Mrs. Lloyd ever ask to borrow some butter or a cup of sugar and she didn’t have it or vice versa.
Those of us who have been around for a little while can attest to this truth. God does not abandon the righteous.
Even those they are not exempt from the trials of life, they can always depend on God to provide.
He was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
He was with Daniel in the lion’s den.

His Extended Blessings

The children of the righteous become blessings.
They have not had to beg for food.
God has made it so the children of the righteous never have to go hungry.
The text is not suggesting that the children become blessings to others.
But children with righteous parents have blessings that extend to their children.
So let me say this, don’t fret yourself because of evil doers, be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade away like grass and wither like the green herb.
They may envy you. Because they don’t understand you.
So just trust in Lord
Delight yourself in the Lord
Commit your way to the Lord
Be still before the Lord
Refrain anger
For the Lord will protect you and provide for you.
Some of your blessings is a result of righteous parents.
Thank God for righteous parents.
Jesus whose Father was righteous, resulted in Him being blessed. Blessed the point that could declare that all power in heaven and earth is in my hand!
God will provide for the righteous.
Are you willing to live righteously for the Lord?
